Abstract:

Method of ion exchange cobalt recovery. Raffinate including cobalt, zinc, copper, nickel and ferric iron is produced. In the raffinate, the pH is raised, the solids are removed and ferric iron is reduced. A copper recovery ion exchange unit is loaded with ion exchange resin selective for copper. Raffinate is fed into the copper recovery ion exchange unit which is regenerated to recover substantially all copper. A cobalt/nickel/zinc recovery ion exchange unit is loaded with another ion exchange resin selective for cobalt. Raffinate is fed into the cobalt/nickel/zinc recovery ion exchange unit, the ion exchange resin holding cobalt, zinc and nickel, and then displaced. Cobalt/zinc eluent is fed into the cobalt/zinc/nickel recovery ion exchange unit to elute the cobalt and zinc in a cobalt/zinc solution, and then displaced. Nickel eluent is fed into the cobalt/zinc/nickel recovery ion exchange unit to elute the nickel.

Abstract:

A method for separating Nfrom a hydrocarbon gas mixture containing Ncomprising the steps of: i) providing a bed of adsorbent selective for N; (ii) passing the hydrocarbon gas mixture through the bed of adsorbent to at least partially remove Nfrom the gas mixture to produce: (a) N-loaded adsorbent and (b) N-depleted hydrocarbon gas mixture; iii) recovering the N-depleted hydrocarbon gas mixture; iv) regenerating the N-loaded adsorbent by at least partially removing Nfrom the adsorbent; and v) sequentially repeating steps (ii) and (iii) using regenerated adsorbent from step (iv); wherein the adsorbent comprises a pyrolized sulfonated macroporous ion exchange resin.

Abstract:

A method of eluting metal ions from a bed of metal-loaded chelating resin wherein the resin includes a crosslinked styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer matrix with pendent methyleneaminopyridine or phosphonic acid groups and the method includes the step of passing an eluant through the bed to at least partially remove the metal ions from the chelating resin and create a metal-rich eluate, wherein the eluant includes an aqueous solution comprising an amino acid compound having a molecular weight less than 500 Daltons.
