Abstract:
A monitoring device () can include a transceiver () to receive a radio signal, and a controller () communicatively coupled to the transceiver to detect an infringement on the radio signal and report the infringement to a database. One or more policies within the database can be updated to mitigate the infringement. The monitoring device can also detect whether a cognitive radio () is generating interference on a primary spectrum used by an incumbent device (). Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract:
A radio configured to dynamically control cancellation of undesired signals in an audio stream. The radio includes a noise cancellation processor configured to receive an audio stream from a user and to alter information in the audio stream by filtering out undesired signals in the audio stream. The radio also includes a receiving component configured to receive a data packet from a remote device, to retrieve configuration information from the data packet, and to dynamically apply the configuration information, while the radio is being used by a user, to settings associated with the noise cancellation processor. A dynamically enabled noise cancellation processor suppresses undesired signals associated with a subsequent incoming audio stream provided by the user and transmits at least one of an altered audio stream or an unaltered audio stream to the remote device.

Abstract:
A technique for a secondary communication system to utilize spectrum designated to another (or primary) communication system is provided. By ranking a plurality of secondary base stations based on base station transmit power, calculated required transmit power and path loss, a set of criteria is developed for selecting a highest ranked secondary base station for operation within a primary's spectrum. The ranking may be adapted based on mobility of the secondary's subscriber; and as such the secondary system communicates within the primary's spectrum using the adaptively ranked base stations. Channel selection may also be ranked. The technique and apparatus allows a cognitive radio (CR) network to operate within an incumbent network's spectrum.
Asset Tracking Management System For Categorizing A Dormant Status Of An Asset

International Classification:

Abstract:
A method and system for categorizing portable radio assets managed by a server. The method includes evaluating status data, from a memory, for a portable radio asset, the status data including when a communication from the portable radio asset was last received by the server, determining that the portable radio asset is dormant when a time period following receipt of the communication exceeds a predetermined time threshold, and retrieving information corresponding to a situational circumstance of the portable radio asset. The method further includes performing analytics on the information, categorizing, based on the analytics, the portable radio asset into a subcategory, the subcategory characterizing a dormant status of the portable radio asset, updating a database to include the dormant portable radio asset categorized in the dormant status subcategory. The updated database, including the dormant portable radio asset categorized in the dormant status subcategory, is accessible to an external device for display on a graphical user interface of the external device.
A communication system () formed of a radio management system () interoperates with a radio management codeplug database () and a confusability analyzer () for the creation and storage of voice recognition target strings for uploading to one or more land mobile portable radios () prior to field-deployment. Once the radios are deployed to the field, unrecognized voice command entries are determined, stored locally at the portable radio, and uploaded to cloud based storage (). Analysis of the cloud based data is performed through a voice control analytics engine () to detect patterns associated with the unrecognized voice commands. The unrecognized voice command pattern is processed though a resolution action engine () to generate one or more resolution actions for the pattern.
System And Method For Monitoring The Integrity Of A Virtual Assistant
A virtual assistant (VA) integrity monitor is provided to interface with a computer aided dispatch (CAD) center to ensure reliability of a VA server operating with a communication system. The VA integrity monitor generates a test query which is perceived by the VA server as being a real, user-generated query to which the VA server responds. The VA integrity monitor verifies that a response provided by the VA server meets predetermined criteria and communicates a result to the CAD center. The CAD center advantageously recognizes that the request and the response are based on a simulated test and therefore does not take action on either the query or the response. When the VA integrity monitor verifies that a response provided by the VA server does not meet the predetermined criteria, the CAD system can send out an alert.
Apparatus, System And Method For Generating A Virtual Assistant On A Repeater
A system, apparatus, and method are provided for integrating a virtual assistant (VA) subsystem () with a repeater () of a communication system (). A conventional repeater () containing repeater receiver (), a repeater controller (), and a repeater transmitter () communicate with a plurality of radios (). The repeater controller () places the repeater () into a repeater mode or a virtual assistant mode based on a squelch code associated with an incoming radio signal. The system provides virtual assistant operation, prioritization of mission critical calls, interrupt, and privacy on a single conventional channel. The incorporation of the virtual assistant into a conventional repeater system has been advantageously achieved without the use of additional infrastructure or additional licensed channels.
Adaptive Talkgroup Selection And Resource Assignment For Listening Posts
Adaptive talkgroup selection and resource assignment for listening posts. One example system includes a communication interface and an electronic processor. The electronic processor receives, via the communication interface, a plurality of data capture prioritization parameters for the plurality of communication channels. The electronic processor assigns at least one of the plurality of listening posts to listen for data from at least one of the plurality of communication channels based on the plurality of data capture prioritization parameters. The electronic processor determines, for each of the at least one of the plurality of listening posts, at least one post over-the-air data capture parameter based on the plurality of data capture prioritization parameters. The electronic processor transmits, to each of the at least one of the plurality of listening posts, the at least one post over-the-air data capture parameter for the listening post.
