Abstract:

A cartridge or injector for holding and mixing a medical product is provided herein including a tubular body having a cylindrical wall having first and second opposing ends. The wall includes inner and outer surfaces with the inner surface having a generally constant cross-section along at least a drug mixing area. A first stopper is slidably disposed within the wall between the first and second ends, the first stopper defining a liquid-tight seal with the inner surface. A second stopper is slidably disposed within the wall between the first stopper and the first end, the second stopper defining a liquid-tight seal with the inner surface. A flexible insert is disposed at or in proximity to the second end, the insert forming a liquid-tight seal with the wall, the insert being pierceable by a medical needle or other piercing instrument. A rigid retainer is fixed to the wall having an opening therein for providing access to the insert for piercing by a medical needle. The insert extends into the retainer and forms a liquid-tight seal across the opening.

Abstract:

A medical injector is provided herein having a body and a needle mounting surface movable relative to the body, the needle mounting surface having features for mounting a needle thereto. In an initial state, the needle mounting surface is disposed within the body with no needle mounted thereto. With relative movement between the body and the needle mounting surface, the needle mounting surface is urged out of the body. Advantageously, a medical injector is provided which ensures proper sequence in preparation of the device, particularly with respect to the step of allowing mounting of a medical needle to the device subsequent to preparation of the medicament to be administered.

Abstract:

In one aspect, a medical injector is provided herein which includes a body; a displaceable plunger disposed in the body; a spring disposed to advance the plunger; a releasable retainer for retaining the plunger in a first state against force of the spring; and, a sleeve disposed on the body, the sleeve being slidable relative to the body. Sliding movement of the sleeve over a predetermined extent relative to the body results in the releasable retainer releasing the plunger thereby allowing the spring to advance the plunger. Advantageously, the subject invention provides a medical injector having an automated plunger drive which is triggered upon sliding movement of the sleeve, thereby minimizing premature or failed activations.

Abstract:

An apparatus for storing and dispensing beads is provided. The apparatus includes a turn table located in a loading chamber and on which the beads are kept for dispensing, wherein the turn table includes a central opening and a plurality of protrusions that enable an agitation and a guidance of the beads towards the central opening during a spinning of the turn table, a wheel rotationally mounted in the housing that includes a cavity formed at a circumferential edge. The apparatus further includes an actuator for manually triggering a vertical rotation of the wheel so as to move the cavity from a first alignment position with the transition channel to a second alignment position with a dispensing hole to dispense there through one of the items stored in the cavity, and for triggering the spinning of the turn table to agitate and dispense the beads through the central opening.
