Abstract:

A seafood dressing tool includes a pair of pivotally interconnected lever members, the lever members forming a pair of grips or handles on one of their ends and a pair of curved, slender blades on their other ends. One lever member forms the lower grip or handle and the upper blade, and the other or second lever member forms the upper grip or handle and the lower blade. The blades curve downwardly with respect to the longitudinal centerline of the tool when oriented for normal use. The lower blade has a relatively sharp upper knife edge, and the upper blade has a lower edge cooperable with the upper knife edge of the lower blade for effecting scissors-like cutting action when the handles or grips are squeezed closed toward one another. The lower blade is adapted for insertion longitudinally into the body of a headless shrimp at its proximal end when the blades are in an open position, with the upper blade then being superposed along the shrimp's back. The lower blade is inserted into the shrimp until it nearly reaches, but stops short of, the shrimp's tail.

Abstract:

A split ball closure member is disposed in the central chamber of a valve. The closure member includes a pair of sealing ball halves each having a substantially spherical sealing surface adapted to seal against annular seats in the valve body around the flow passages, and flow portions therethrough. A head member is mounted on the end of the valve operating stem extending into the chamber, for rotation with the stem. The split ball halves are pivotably mounted to the head member to be pivotable about the mounting means alternately to separate the halves from one another or to collapse them toward one another. The closure member is rotatable with the stem and head member alternately to place the flow port portions in register with the seats to open the valve, or to align the sealing surfaces with the seats to close the valve. An actuating cam is disposed in the valve body between the split ball halves for alternately forcing them apart and the sealing surfaces into sealing engagement with the seats when the sealing surfaces are rotated into alignment with the seats, and permitting them to collapse toward one another and away from sealing engagement with the seats when the sealing surfaces are rotated out of alignment with the seats.

Abstract:

A chuck jaw assembly for securing work material upon a machine tool, the assembly includes a jaw and replaceable inserts. The jaw provides a mounting means allowing jaw inserts to be quickly replaced by removing one screw, furthermore inserts are provided which allow both larger diameter and smaller diameter work pieces to be accomodated without replacing the jaws.
