  • Filed:
    Jun 8, 2007
  • Appl. No.:
    11/811301
  • Inventors:
Maximiliano Mondelli - Houston TX, US
George Krieg - Youngsville LA, US
David Hebert - Scott LA, US
David Robinson - Cypress TX, US
  • Assignee:
BJ Services Company LLC - Houston TX
  • International Classification:
    E21B 34/10
  • US Classification:
    166374, 166331
  • Abstract:
A downhole device used to divert fluid flow out of a work string into an annulus. The downhole device is activated by the movement of a plurality of pistons within the downhole device. Fluid flow through a restriction of the downhole device creates an increase in fluid pressure causing the movement of the pistons. The pistons move a flow tube between various locations within the device. In one location, the flow tube prevents fluid flow to the annulus while in another location the flow tube allows fluid flow to be diverted into the annulus. The downhole device may include a locating sleeve having a continuous j-track allowing the flow tube to be selectively retained at the various locations within the downhole device. Fluid flow through the downhole is used to cycle the device between diverting fluid flow to the annulus and forcing fluid flow down the work string.

  • Assignee:
BJ Services Company LLC - Houston TX
  • International Classification:
    E21B 34/06
  • US Classification:
    166373, 1663328, 137527, 1375276
  • Abstract:
A safety valve assembly comprises a valve body, a flapper mount, flapper and a hinge used to rotate the flapper in an opened or closed position. Torsional pins are mounted adjacent the flapper mount, each having ends which extend into the hinge and terminating adjacent each other at a location along the hinge. Torsional springs are circumferentially mounted around the torsional pins. Tabs extend from the torsional springs and contact an actuation member extending over the top of the flapper. As such, the torque created by the torsional springs is transferred to the actuation member via the tabs, thereby reducing the stress on the torsional springs.

  • US Patent:
    8251147, Aug 28, 2012
  • Filed:
    Jul 10, 2009
  • Appl. No.:
    12/500688
  • Inventors:
Maximiliano Mondelli - Houston TX, US
Jeffrey L. Bolding - Kilgore TX, US
Don Sanders - Katy TX, US
  • Assignee:
Baker Hughes Incorporated - Houston TX
  • International Classification:
    E21B 43/00
  • US Classification:
    166319, 166266
  • Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to a wellbore injection system. The wellbore injection system comprises a capillary fluid flow path positioned in a subsurface wellbore so as to allow fluid communication through the wellbore, the wellbore having a wellbore pressure. A receptacle is in fluid communication with a second fluid flow path that is positioned below the capillary fluid flow path in the wellbore. An injector is attached to a distal end of the capillary fluid flow path, the injector comprising an injector flow path. The injector is capable of being removably attached to the receptacle to provide fluid communication between the capillary fluid flow path and the second fluid flow path through the injector flow path. An isolation mechanism is capable of isolating the capillary fluid flow path from the wellbore pressure when the injector is not attached to the receptacle.

  • US Classification:
    166386, 166317, 166318, 175317
  • Abstract:
A downhole device used to divert fluid flow out of a work string. The downhole device may be located at any point along a work string at which it may be necessary to divert the fluid flow to the annulus. The downhole device may be activated and deactivated by inserting a single deformable dart into the work string. The device catches the dart blocking fluid flow through the work string. Increased fluid pressure activates the device, which diverts the fluid flow out of the work string into the annulus. A locating sleeve with a continuous j-track allows the device to be retained in activated position. The dart is adapted to deform under a predetermined amount of fluid pressure allowing the dart past the device and returning fluid flow through the work string. The downhole device may be activated multiple times without removing the downhole device from the wellbore.
