Abstract:

A method and system for managing communication resources between nodes in a network, and more particularly to a dynamic distributed multi-channel time division multiple access (TDMA) slot assignment method is presented. The method and apparatus include a set of higher level heuristics that enable the wireless channel access scheme to address predetermined characteristics of the wireless channel access system. These predetermined heuristics include using bootstrap slots, adaptive broadcast cycles, channelized neighborhoods, standby slots, speculation slots, neighbor segregation, hard circuits, and soft circuits.

An image acquisition system for capturing images of a scene is provided. The system includes a stationary image acquisition device that receives optical images. A light-directing device directs images toward the image acquisition device. The light-directing device pivots about a pivot axis over a scan range that is less than 360 degrees.

Abstract:

Infrared stationary lens systems for performing multi-dimensional scans of scenes are provided. Systems illustratively include a stationary lens, a first scan mirror, a second scan minor, and at least one actuator. The stationary lens transmits infrared light and has an optical axis. The first scan minor has a first axis and pivots about the first axis to direct images of a scene to the stationary lens along a first dimension. The second scan mirror has a second axis and is located in an optical path between the first scan mirror and the stationary lens. The second scan mirror pivots about the second axis to direct images of the scene to the stationary lens along a second dimension. At least one actuator controls the first and the second scan minors such that the first and the second scan minors step and stare across the multi-dimensional scan of the scene.

Abstract:

Systems and methods for detecting moving objects are provided. Systems illustratively include an image acquisition component, an image processing component, and a display component. Image acquisition components capture image data over a wide spatial area. Image processing components have dedicated algorithms for change detection and receive captured image data from image acquisition components. Image processing components utilize the captured data and the dedicated algorithms to perform image change detection. Display components receive processed image data from image processing components and provide visual indications that items of interest have been detected. Methods illustratively include obtaining first and second images covering a wide field-of-view. The second image is registered to and compared to the first image. Based at least in part on the comparison, a moving object within the wide field-of-view is detected. An indication of the moving object is provided.

In one aspect, a mobile device comprises a local content store, one or more media playback components, one or more content capture components, and an instructional module agent comprising an authoring application and a playback application. The authoring application is configured to allow an author to create and edit instructional modules each comprising one or more media playback steps, each step comprising media that can be displayed or played, and to use the content capture components to capture content, store the captured content in the local content store, and configure at least one of the steps to display or play the captured content using the media playback components. The playback application is configured to play the instructional modules using the media playback components. The instructional module agent can be configured to respond to the creation and/or editing of an instructional module using the authoring application by automatically uploading at least a portion of the instructional module to a content repository stored on one or more computer servers.
