Abstract:

A graphical user interface displays a unique graphical indexing element such as a tab for each engaged and non-engaged messaging session. The user chooses which messaging session to make engaged by selecting its graphical indexing element. The graphical indexing elements have various distinctive characteristics to indicate the status of their respective messaging sessions, such as engaged, non-engaged with no unread messages, or non-engaged with at least one unread message. The messaging sessions may all be docked, in which event the engaged messaging session is displayed in a window pane set and the other messaging sessions are not displayed, or may be selectively undocked, in which event the engaged messaging session and the undocked messaging sessions are displayed in respective window pane sets. The engaged window pane set supports the communication of original or predefined messages between the user's digital device and the pal's messaging-enabled digital device, regardless of capability.

In one aspect, a mobile device comprises a local content store, one or more media playback components, one or more content capture components, and an instructional module agent comprising an authoring application and a playback application. The authoring application is configured to allow an author to create and edit instructional modules each comprising one or more media playback steps, each step comprising media that can be displayed or played, and to use the content capture components to capture content, store the captured content in the local content store, and configure at least one of the steps to display or play the captured content using the media playback components. The playback application is configured to play the instructional modules using the media playback components. Abstract:

A self-contained laser module assembly has a diode laser and driver circuit enclosed with a cylindrical metal housing which forms a first electrical contact for inputting a DC voltage to power the circuit and laser. The housing has a first end which includes a lens positioned to emit a collimated laser beam along an axis of the housing and a second end including a second external electrical contact positioned to contact the power supply. One application of the module is in a pen-like pointer. The pointer includes conductive cap and body portions which are threaded together to house a laser module and a battery in end-to-end relationship. An O-ring between the battery and the body or module is axially compressed by tightening the cap on the body to enable turning on the pointer. The cap has a pocket clip through which electrical contact is selectably made between the body and a side contact on the module to cause a beam to be emitted.

Example instructions, when executed, cause at least one processor to access a media stream that includes media and a profile of equalization parameters, the media stream provided to a device via a network, the profile of equalization parameters included in the media stream selected based on a comparison of a reference fingerprint to a query fingerprint generated based on the media, the profile of equalization parameters including an equalization parameter for the media; and modify playback of the media based on the equalization parameter specified in the accessed profile.
