Abstract:

A method and system is provided whereby heliostats in a solar power plant may be calibrated without being aimed away from the receiver. The heliostats may be moved through a calibration path different from their operational path. The calibration path may start from any point along the operational path of the heliostat and may move the reflected sunlight from the heliostat across a portion of the solar receiver. Individual power generation receiver modules may be monitored to detect changes in output as the calibration path takes the heliostat reflection across various receiver modules.

A receiver for a solar power generation plant with a plurality of heliostats is provided. The solar receiver is mounted above the heliostats on a tower and faces downwardly towards the heliostats. Abstract:

An electrical connector shell reinforcement means operable to support and strengthen the bayonet pins of the electrical connector is disclosed. The electrical connector shell reinforcement means includes a metal band bonded upon the electrical connector shell before or after the insertion of the bayonet pins. The shell reinforcement means provides structural support against the shearing forces the pins are subjected to. An alternative embodiment of the electrical connector reinforcement means incorporates a washer-like metal band directly supporting the bayonet pins of the electrical connector shell. An alternative embodiment of the electrical connector reinforcement means incorporates a metal cup on the composite material molded into the bayonet pin. Finally, a coupling ring is disclosed to be formed of plastic or composite material to include a metal liner therewithin having a bayonet pin receiving groove cut or broached into its inside surface, and a method of producing such device is also disclosed.

Abstract:

A process is described for producing amorphous metal alloys wherein impure ferrophosphorus slag, a by-product from a phosphorus-producing electric furnace, is used to supply phosphorus, chromium, vanadium and iron values to such alloys by treating the ferrophosphorus slag to a separation step to recover a purified molten ferrophos, mixing it with iron and any other desired metalloid and/or elements to form a molten mixture and rapidly cooling the molten mixture to below its vitrification temperature to form a solid amorphous metal alloy.

Abstract:

Provided are systems and methods for analyzing sonograms of abdomen to identify presence or absence of free fluid in the abdomen. The systems and methods are useful for performing or assisting with point of care diagnosis of presence of internal bleeding in trauma patients without requiring input from a radiologist or another clinician trained to analyze sonograms for presence or absence of free fluid. Also provided are methods and system for training a medical imaging system for analyzing sonograms of abdomen to identify presence or absence of free fluid in the abdomen.
