Abstract:
A composition for a cleaning-in-place system is described. The composition has a halogen dioxide and a optionally hydroxide and does not require the use of a detergent to display excellent cleaning and disinfecting properties on processing equipment such as the equipment found in breweries, dairy plants and carbonated beverage plants.
Disclosed is a method of making a non-aqueous chlorine dioxide solution by combining a chlorite salt and a non-aqueous carboxylic acid and the non-aqueous chlorine dioxide solution made by this method. Also disclosed are methods of disinfecting an object by applying the non-aqueous chlorine dioxide solution to the object and methods of disinfecting a liquid by adding the non-aqueous chlorine dioxide solution to the liquid.

A composition for a cleaning-in-place system is described. The composition has a defoaming agent and a cleaning agent, and the composition is low foaming. The composition displays excellent cleaning and disinfecting properties on processing equipment such as the equipment found in breweries, dairy plants and carbonated beverage plants, even in the absence of carbon dioxide purging.
Method And Apparatus For Measuring And/Or Controlling The Concentration Of A Gas In A Solution
A device and method for measuring the concentration of a water soluble gas within an aqueous solution. In some embodiments, the solution has suspended solids, color, and turbidity. The device includes a gas release device in communication with a gas monitoring device. The gas release device is configured to cause the gas within the aqueous solution to transfer from the solution to an ambient gas phase. A chamber captures the released ambient gas and directs the gas toward the gas monitoring device.
Animal carcasses are disinfected by applying to the animal carcass an aqueous solution of sodium acid sulfate that does not include a chlorine-containing composition. The solution is maintained at from about pH 1.0 to about pH 2.5 and can optionally include a second acid such as citric acid, lactic acid, or combinations thereof.

Abstract:
Animal carcasses are disinfected by applying to the surface of the animal carcass an acidified solution of chlorine dioxide. The chlorine dioxide solution should have a pH of about 2-3 and a concentration of 1-100 ppm. The contact time for the solution onto the carcass surface should be from about 5 seconds to about 60 seconds.
A surface disinfecting composition includes a combination of lauric arginate ethyl ester in combination with EDTA, octenyl succinic acid, octanoic acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid, or combinations thereof. The aqueous solution can be used to disinfect a wide variety of surfaces including food processing and storage equipment, vegetables and fruits, as well as animal carcasses such as poultry.
