  • Scheduling System For Placing Test Patches In A Printing Apparatus

    view source
  • US Patent:
    7555234, Jun 30, 2009
  • Filed:
    Sep 7, 2006
  • Appl. No.:
    11/517163
  • Inventors:
Michael W. Elliot - Penfield NY, US
Michael J. Dahrea - Rochester NY, US
Stephen F. Randall - West Henrietta NY, US
  • Assignee:
    Xerox Corporation - Norwalk CT
  • International Classification:
    G03G 15/00
  • US Classification:
    399 72
  • Abstract:
A method of operating a printing apparatus, the apparatus having a rotatable imaging member and an imaging station useful in creating printable images and test patches on the rotatable imaging member. Data is obtained relating to images desired to be printed in a time-frame corresponding to a predetermined number of rotations of the imaging member. A gap is identified in the time-frame corresponding to a location on the imaging member that is not occupied by an image desired to be printed within the time-frame. The identified gap is identified as suitable for receiving a test patch.
  • Brick-Based System For Scheduling Functions In A Printing Apparatus

    view source
  • US Patent:
    7676177, Mar 9, 2010
  • Filed:
    May 23, 2007
  • Appl. No.:
    11/805461
  • Inventors:
Michael W. Elliot - Macedon NY, US
Marc Palmaffy - Sahuarita AZ, US
Michael J. Dahrea - Rochester NY, US
Stephen F. Randall - West Henrietta NY, US
  • Assignee:
    Xerox Corporation - Norwalk CT
  • International Classification:
    G03G 21/00
  • US Classification:
    399160, 399 72
  • Abstract:
In a printing apparatus having a rotatable imaging member and means for performing a selected one of a plurality of operations on a portion of the rotatable imaging member, a set of metaphorical bricks are used to schedule operations. For an operation of a first type, a first brick is scheduled, the first brick defining a time duration associated with the operation, and defining a first portion having a first height and a second portion having a second height. For an operation of a second type, a second brick is scheduled, the second brick defining at least one height and a time duration associated with the operation. A combined height of bricks scheduled over time is monitored.
  • System For Predicting Erasure Of Test Patches In A Printing Apparatus

    view source
  • US Patent:
    20080063417, Mar 13, 2008
  • Filed:
    Sep 7, 2006
  • Appl. No.:
    11/516898
  • Inventors:
Michael W. Elliot - Penfield NY, US
Stephen F. Randall - West Henrietta NY, US
Michael J. Dahrea - Rochester NY, US
  • International Classification:
    G03G 15/00
  • US Classification:
    399 49, 399 72
  • Abstract:
In a printing apparatus having a rotatable imaging member, a test patch is created in a predetermined area of the imaging member. A density of the test patch is measured at least a first time, corresponding to a first rotation of the imaging member. Based at least partially on the measuring of the density of the test patch at least a first time, how many rotations in the future the predetermined area of the imaging member will be available for receiving new marking material is predicted.
  • Method For Printing In A Printer Having An Inoperable Ink Reservoir

    view source
  • US Patent:
    20120147073, Jun 14, 2012
  • Filed:
    Dec 13, 2010
  • Appl. No.:
    12/966058
  • Inventors:
Michael Joseph Dahrea - Rochester NY, US
Michael William Elliot - Macedon NY, US
  • Assignee:
    XEROX CORPORATION - Norwalk CT
  • International Classification:
    B41J 2/195
  • US Classification:
    347 7
  • Abstract:
A method for operating a printer includes supplying liquid ink from two ink reservoirs to a printhead to enable the printhead to eject ink drops onto an image receiving substrate. A substrate transport moves the substrate past the printhead at a first speed. In response to detecting an interruption in the supply of liquid ink from one of the two ink reservoirs, the substrate transport moves the image receiving substrate at a slower second speed past the printhead.
