Abstract:

A locking aerosol dispenser with a dome, a top thermoplastic elastomeric button member molded over a dome opening, and a base lock member. The rotatable base lock rotates from locked to unlocked position with respect to the essentially non-rotatable dome. A product channel member in the dome is held by the elastomeric button, and not otherwise attached to the dome. The base lock has an upstanding bridge with unlocking slots within which extend fingers on the product channel member when the dispenser is unlocked and actuated. The base lock is not attached to the aerosol valve mounting cup. The dome is attached to the base lock member and the aerosol valve mounting cup, the dome capturing the base lock member between the dome and aerosol container.

Abstract:

Aerosol valve trigger actuator with a plastic shroud, a linearly acting trigger member having at least one camming surface, a fluid conduit for connection to a vertical aerosol valve stem and with at least one cam follower, the trigger actuation camming the plastic conduit and valve stem downwardly to dispense product, an elongated bendable plastic spring molded to the shroud, the trigger member having at least one rearward extension extending through at least one opening in the spring. In a first embodiment, the rearward extension is locked by one or more hooks to the free end of the plastic spring on assembly. In a second embodiment, a protrusion on the trigger locks it against removal. The plastic spring biases the trigger member forwardly on trigger release.

Abstract:

A cap for a container that stores and dispenses fluids or gels that includes a shroud having a shroud wall surrounding an opening and a collar connected on the shroud so that the collar selectively rotates relative to the shroud, is provided. The collar is rotatable between a closed position and an open position. The actuator is connected to the shroud, and has a contact portion. The contact portion is in the opening of the shroud. The actuator is movable in the closed position and the open position by a force that is applied to the contact portion only after removal of a tab.

Abstract:

An aerosol valve having a valve stem, valve stem housing, compression spring, and a hard stop formed by the interaction of valve stem and valve stem housing is provided. The hard stop prevents the compression spring from becoming fully compressed, or coil-bound, when the valve stem is pressed to dispense a product formulation from the container, thereby creating open spaces between coils of the compression spring and providing a defined flow path for the product formulation. The aerosol valve increases mixing and turbulence of the product formulation that reduce agglomerations of solids that might otherwise block the flow paths. The additional defined flow path also directs more of the product to the valve stem aperture, further increasing dispensing of the product formulation from the container. A method of using the aerosol valve is provided.

An aerosol valve having a valve stem and compression spring geometry that create shorter flow paths, have fewer changes in flow direction, and passageways with large cross-sections to reduce resistance and back pressure is disclosed. The aerosol valve minimizes agglomeration of solids in the flow paths and reduces product failures. A method of using the aerosol valve is also provided.
