Abstract:

A method for testing a unit is described where the unit includes one or more of electrical, electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical components. The described method includes applying at least one stimulus to the unit, receiving sound emissions from the unit, converting the sound emissions into one or more acoustic signatures, comparing the acoustic signatures based on the received emissions to stored acoustic signatures expected as a result of the at least one stimulus, and determining a status for the unit based on the comparisons.

Abstract:

A sensor unit to detect a stillness event, the sensor unit including a gyroscope attached to a monitored person, a micro-controller communicatively coupled to the gyroscope, and a memory communicatively coupled to receive and to store the angular velocity data with a correlated time. The gyroscope senses an angular velocity of the monitored person and outputs angular velocity data based on the sensed angular velocity. The micro-controller receives the angular velocity data and recognizes a quiescence-pattern data in the angular velocity data.

An apparatus for measuring a volume of liquid within a vessel is described. The apparatus includes a plurality of devices each having electrical properties that are dependent on a temperature of the device, a constant current source coupled to the plurality of devices, and a unit configured to output a signal based on an amount of voltage at by the plurality of devices. The amount of voltage is based on a number of the plurality of devices immersed in the liquid, and a number of the plurality of devices not immersed in the liquid.

A disposal system is provided. In an embodiment, by way of example, the disposal system can include a first tank adapted to be at least partially filled with waste fluid. An electronic sensor is disclosed. The electronic sensor includes a processor, a processor memory coupled to the processor, and at least one input/output block in communication with the processor and with at least one external component monitor. The sensor further includes one or more accelerometers in communication with the processor and coupled directly to at least one component, the one or more accelerometers sensing one or more mechanical vibrations from the at least one component, and the one or more mechanical vibrations oscillating below 1 MHz. The processor compares the one or more mechanical vibrations with a plurality of vibration samples programmed into the processor memory, each vibration sample specific to at least one sensor application.

Abstract:

Systems and methods for recording information in a vehicle data recorder device. The vehicle data recorder device includes an inertial measurement unit (IMU), a crash survivable unit having memory, and a microcontroller in data communication with the IMU and the memory. The microcontroller receives angular rate information and acceleration information from the IMU and stores the received angular rate information and acceleration information in the memory. The IMU includes two or more MEMS gyroscopes or ring laser gyroscopes. In one example, the microcontroller stores angular rate information and acceleration information in the memory until a threshold event has occurred. The threshold event includes at least one of the angular rate information or acceleration information indicating zero with respect to a rotating earth coordinate frame for a predetermined period of time.

Abstract:

A word game and method of playing the word game comprising providing a main word or phrase (“Theme Word”), and a group of existing words (“Puzzle Words”), wherein each letter from the Theme Word is used once to form a different word (“Solved Word”) when added to a Puzzle Word. In an embodiment, multiple letters from the Theme Word may be added to a single Puzzle Word to form a single Solved Word. The letters from the Theme Word may be added anywhere to the Puzzle Word in order to form a new Solved Word. In an embodiment, the order of the letters in Puzzle Word may not be changed. In another embodiment the letter from the Theme Word may not be added to the end of the Puzzle Word. The game will be considered solved when all of the letters of the Theme Word have been successfully combined once with a Puzzle Word such that each letter has been used with a Puzzle Word to form a Solved Word.
