Abstract:

A gas turbine engine control system is disclosed having a fault detection system capable of detecting a high N condition. N rotational speed is measured and, in two different locations, subtracted from a target N value and a requested N value. The resultant error values are scaled by a gain that is scheduled as a function of N rotational rate. Each error value is accumulated with separate integrators that have independent maximum and minimum limits. The integrators are reset based upon a number of conditions. A number of additional conditions must also be satisfied for the fault detection system to trigger a fault condition. If the additional conditions are satisfied and the integrators are accumulating values, then a fault condition is set if either or both integrators accumulate a value that reaches a selected limit.

Abstract:

In an improved bubble lattice file (BLF) structure, two adjacent layers of magnetic bubble domain material are utilized to provide separate media for supporting carrier bubbles or coded bubbles. The coded bubbles, in one layer, represent data stored in the bubble lattice file. The carrier bubbles, in another layer, are magnetically coupled to the coded bubbles and are used in manipulation thereof. The magnetic bubble domain layers may be separated by an appropriate interface layer or surface. The lattice file area, or storage area, is biased by a single layer of bias material while adjacent areas, such as an input/output region, include a pair of biasing layers disposed on opposite sides of the adjacent layer structure. This composite permits an improved bubble lattice file structure which utilizes the storage capabilities of bubble lattice file memories as well as the operating capabilities of so-called conventional magnetic bubble domain device techniques.

A software architecture for a computer telephony server for simultaneously implementing a plurality of messaging applications is provided. The server includes a processor, a memory and a plurality of slots connected to the processor through a high-speed bus, each of the plurality of slots being adapted to receive an interface card for connecting the server to an external resource. The server further includes a session having a thread of execution on the processor and controlling a subset of the memory and a telephone line resource. The call processing behavior of the session is defined by a first user agent which represent a known user of the server. The first user agent includes a first scenario and a first set of properties. The first scenario includes a plurality of event-application pairs, each pair representing a valid event and a corresponding application that is executed when the valid event is detected. The first set of properties includes fixed properties for customizing standard features of the first user agent and named properties for customizing the behavior of the applications from the first scenario.

Abstract:

A "video fax" system electronically delivers a non-real time, full-motion, sub-broadcast quality facsimile of relatively short segments of video material from an originating location to a receiving location in a short period of time, utilizing selected widely available commercial telephone switched networks. At the originating location, analog source material is digitized, compressed, prepared for transmission and stored temporarily. Digital source material is handled by bypassing the digitization step and part of the compression step, and performing the necessary file conversion. The sending location dials up the receiving location, and a connection is established. The digital file is transmitted over the network. When finished, the connection is terminated. At the receiving location, the material is received, decompressed and converted back to either analog form or digital form, depending on the recipient's preference.

Abstract:

Control systems and methods for controlling an engine. The control system includes a computation module and an input/output (I/O) module attached to the engine. The computation module is located in an area of the engine, or off-engine, that provides a more benign environment than the environment that the I/O module is subject to during operation of the engine. The I/O module includes a first processor and a first network interface device. The computation module includes a second processor with higher processing power than the first processor, and a second network interface device. The control system also includes a sensor configured to provide sensor readings to the first processor. The first processor transmits data based on the sensor readings to the second processor. The control system also includes an actuator operably coupled to the I/O module and that is controlled by the first processor based on commands from the second processor.
