Abstract:

A cardiac arrest monitor and alarm system including an implantable medical device having at least three electrodes, preferably but not necessarily subcutaneous, positioned with respect to a heart organ and forming an orthogonal lead configuration to continuously monitor an electrocardiographic signal of the heart organ. A microdevice, preferably but not necessarily operatively connected to the medical device, detects a deviation from a normal heart electrical activity and emits a signal to an external receiver. Upon verification of the signal from the microdevice, the external receiver activates a programmed annunciator circuit to alert bystanders to deploy an AED and/or activate a communication link automatically transmitting an alarm and the electrocardiographic signal to a remote transceiver.

Abstract:

A switch is connected to a wagon for electrically powering the wagon. The wagon has a frame having at least one wheel for movement along a surface. The wagon further has a bar connected to the frame, the bar having a handle. The wagon further has a battery connected to a motor mounted on the wheel for powering the wheel. The switch has a wire shell having a first lead extending therefrom and adapted to be connected to the motor. A pipe member has an insulator ring mounted on the pipe member. The pipe member has a second lead extending therefrom and adapted to be connected to the battery. The wire shell is positioned over the pipe member and ring wherein the ring maintains a space between the wire shell and the pipe member to define an inactivated position. The wire shell is resiliently deflectable to a second position contacting the pipe member to define an activated position wherein an electrical connection is made powering the wheel of the wagon for movement along the surface.

Abstract:

An apparatus includes a disposable assembly and a reusable assembly. The disposable assembly includes a fluid input port, a fluid output port, and a tube configured to provide fluid communication between the fluid input port and the fluid output port. The reusable assembly includes a housing, a fluid management assembly that is configured to transition between an open position and a closed position, and a sensing assembly. The fluid management assembly is configured to prevent fluid from traveling past the tube to the fluid output port in the closed position. The sensing assembly is configured to sense fluid accumulating within the tube while the fluid management assembly is in the closed position. The sensing assembly is also configured to drive the fluid management assembly from the closed position to the open position when the sensing assembly detects fluid within the tube at a predetermined range.
