Abstract:

There is provided an energy delivery device comprising a storage device, a discharge circuit and a disarm circuit. The discharge circuit comprises a switch electrically connected to the storage device, and is selectively operable to deliver energy from the storage device to a load, e. g. , a patient needing defibrillation, preferably in a multiphasic waveform. The disarm circuit comprises the switch. Preferably, the discharge circuit comprises an H-bridge circuit. There are also provided delivery devices: which comprise a shoot-through elimination circuit; which include housing elements which, when assembled, cause electrical connection between respective components; which include a housing having a small volume and an energy storage device having a large capacitance; which comprise a shunt circuit which, when activated, prevents switching of a switch. There are also provided methods of assembly and disassembly of an energy delivery unit and methods of delivering energy to a load.

Abstract:

Abstract:

A cardiac arrest monitor and alarm system including an implantable medical device having at least three electrodes, preferably but not necessarily subcutaneous, positioned with respect to a heart organ and forming an orthogonal lead configuration to continuously monitor an electrocardiographic signal of the heart organ. A microdevice, preferably but not necessarily operatively connected to the medical device, detects a deviation from a normal heart electrical activity and emits a signal to an external receiver. Upon verification of the signal from the microdevice, the external receiver activates a programmed annunciator circuit to alert bystanders to deploy an AED and/or activate a communication link automatically transmitting an alarm and the electrocardiographic signal to a remote transceiver.

Abstract:

An electrical adapter is disclosed that includes a power supply circuit, a sensing circuit and one or more universal DC output connectors. The electrical adapter is configured to convert AC input power at a nominal 120 volts AC to one or more DC output voltages which has the ability to provide different nominal DC voltages to each universal DC output connector depending on the portable DC device connected thereto. The electrical adapter includes a device sensing circuit that automatically senses when a portable DC device is connected to or disconnected from any of the universal DC output connectors. The electrical adapter also includes a voltage and current sensing circuit that monitors the voltage and current applied to the portable DC device connected to the universal DC connector that is used to provide closed loop feedback to the power supply circuit in order to adjust the voltage applied to the universal DC output connector as a function of the voltage and current requirements of the portable DC device connected thereto. As such, each universal DC output connector can be used for portable DC devices having different nominal DC requirements. For example, an electrical adapter with four universal DC output connectors can be used to power four cell phones with nominal 5 volt DC requirements. The same universal DC connectors can alternatively be used to charge four laptop computers with a nominal 15 volt DC requirement or any combination thereof with no changes of the circuitry required. The electrical adapter in accordance with the present invention provides significantly more flexibility than known electrical adapters in which each connector has a dedicated output voltage.

Abstract:

In some of these approaches, a first fingerprint of a first user is stored in a memory and the transmission of an activation code is authorized. Subsequently, the first fingerprint is re-sensed and authenticated and a second fingerprint of a second user is responsively sensed and stored. Abstract:

The presence of a first human fingerprint at the fingerprint scanner. The first human fingerprint is analyzed to determine whether the first human fingerprint has been previously learned by the barrier movement operator. When the first human fingerprint is determined to be previously learned, a first command is sent to actuate a moveable barrier operator. Within a predetermined time period after the first human fingerprint has been determined to be previously learned, the presence of a second human fingerprint is sensed at the fingerprint scanner. Without analyzing the second fingerprint, a second command is sent to actuate the moveable barrier operator. The first fingerprint and the second fingerprint may be from the same or different users.
