Abstract:

A search and retrieval system includes a data terminal which displays icons representing properties in a given real-estate market on a digital map. The icons are selectable so that, when selected, information derived from an MLS or other database are displayed in association with the map. In one embodiment, the data terminal is equipped with a GPS receiver and data-enabled mobile phone. The GPS receiver receives location data which is used by a processor to display an icon representing a current location of the terminal within the map. The data-enabled phone links the terminal to a remote server or database of property information, which may also be displayed when property icons are selected on the map. The property information may include media (e. g. , bitmap) data that provide a visual depiction of the property icons selected.

Abstract:

A direct antifreeze cooled fuel cell is disclosed for producing electrical energy from reducing and process oxidant fluid streams that includes an electrolyte secured between an anode catalyst and a cathode catalyst; a porous anode substrate secured in direct fluid communication with and supporting the anode catalyst; a porous wetproofed cathode substrate secured in direct fluid communication with and supporting the cathode catalyst; a porous water transport or cooler plate secured in direct fluid communication with the porous cathode substrate; and, a direct antifreeze solution passing through the porous water transport plate. A preferred direct antifreeze solution passing through the porous water transport plate remains essentially within the water transport plate and does not poison the catalysts.

Abstract:

An acoustically improved cooling system is provided for an energy storage system including a battery with air from a carpeted vehicle compartment, the cooling system including: a carpet portion sufficiently spaced from a floor panel of a vehicle to define a cavity forming an air passage through which air may flow and including an air inlet opening integrally formed therein through which the air from the compartment may be drawn; a fan for circulating air from the cavity into heat exchange relationship with the battery for cooling the battery; and a vent opening connecting the cavity and the fan in air flow communication. The frame is curved above the vent opening, to force noise reflection off the curved portion of the frame. A sound absorption layer is installed underneath the curved portion of the frame for noise attenuation.

Abstract:

The present invention is directed to icons used to represent properties in a real-estate market information system. The icons of the present invention provide additional information about the property associated with the icon when displayed on a digital map. Icon indicia, such as shape, color or size, in the present invention is determined by combining at least two property attributes of the property associated with the property icon. In a preferred embodiment, the icons used in the present invention are indicative of the type of property and the market status of the property associated with the icon. The icons can be constructed such that further property attributes, such as square-footage range, could be also, or alternatively, be indicated by icon indicia.

Abstract:

A noise reduction hood for attenuating the acoustic noise of cooling fans emanating from an electronic enclosure. The hood is comprised of a base that is constructed and arranged to be supported on the enclosure. The base has an air duct that is adapted to pass air therethrough in a first direction, and includes at least one noise reduction panel disposed in the air duct to attenuate acoustic noise emanating from the enclosure. In one embodiment, the noise reduction panel divides the air duct into a plurality of acoustical flow passages extending through the base. In another embodiment, the hood includes a cover, which may be detachable, that is adapted to divert the air from the first direction to a second direction. In a further embodiment, the hood includes a rim extending from the base for surrounding a portion of the enclosure to secure the hood to the enclosure. The hood may include a plurality of interlocking panels that are arranged in a grid pattern to form an array of acoustical flow passages.

In operation of the fuel cell, because product water generated electrochemically at the cathode catalyst flows away from the cathode catalyst into the cathode substrate and into the water transport plate and because the cathode substrate is wetproofed, the antifreeze solution passing through the water transport plate remains essentially within this plate. In a preferred embodiment, the antifreeze solution passing through the water transport plate may be directed to flow at a pressure less than that of the oxidant stream passing adjacent the cathode substrate.

Abstract:

A four-fluid bipolar plate for a fuel cell includes a nonporous sub-plate comprising a first reactant half-plate joined to a second reactant half-plate. The nonporous sub-plate includes an internal coolant passage network having coolant flow field passages extending across an active area of the fuel cell. The nonporous sub-plate defines fuel supply and fuel return internal manifolds, oxidant supply and oxidant return internal manifolds, water management supply and water management return internal manifolds, and coolant supply and coolant return internal manifolds. The internal coolant passage network may have secondary cooling functions, such as a reactant coolant loop surrounding an internal reactant internal manifold, providing a heat exchange area to cool incoming reactant gas, and cooling the interfacial and porous sub-plate seals.
