Abstract:

A token generator such as a keyfob is used to access the computer of an authentication entity different from the authentication entity that issued the token generator. The token generator stores authentication entity identification information identifying the authentication entity that issued the token generator. The token generator causes a user computer to transmit an authentication request including such authentication entity identification information together with a token generated in synchronization with the authentication entity issuing the token generator, so that the authentication request can be routed to the appropriate authentication entity that issued the keyfob for validation. The authentication request can be sent directly to the authentication entity that issued the token generator. The authentication request can also be sent to the authentication entity that issued the token generator via another authentication entity to which the user computer attempts to access.

A buyer () wishes to use a payment instrument as part of an online commerce transaction with a seller () and it is desired to authenticate that the buyer () has authority to use the payment instrument. A separate authentication service () determines whether the buyer () has access to certain secret information without revealing the secret information to the seller (). Access to the secret information would verify that the buyer () has authority to use the payment instrument. The authentication service () informs the seller () whether the buyer () is authorized to use the payment instrument.

Abstract:

In various embodiments, sellers and buyers may interact with a price determination application and/or electronic marketplace to buy/sell items for tax deductions to increase the tax deduction benefit for the sellers and buyers. For example, donating an item may have a tax benefit to a seller that is less than the tax benefit to a higher income bracket buyer. The electronic marketplace may facilitate a sale of the items to the buyer who may then donate the items for the tax benefit. In some embodiments, an item distribution service may sell items from multiple sellers to buyers according to a calculated price/distribution to increase the tax benefit to the sellers/buyers. In some embodiments, the items may not be delivered to the buyer by the seller, but may instead be routed to a charitable organization for donation in the buyer's name after ownership is transferred to the buyer.
