Abstract:

A beverage container assembly for use with a blender is provided comprising a beverage container having an open top portion and a closed bottom portion. A first removable cover is for selectively covering the top portion of the beverage container. The first cover is adapted to be removably mountable on and off a blender and comprises an adapter portion for mounting the beverage container on a blender. A second removable cover is for selectively covering the open top portion of the beverage container. The second cover includes a drinking hole. The first and second covers are interchangeable on the beverage container and the second cover is mountable on the closed bottom portion for storage.

Abstract:

A combined toe and finger nail clipper having a common metal strip with a toe nail cutting edge at one end and a finger nail cutting edge at the opposite end. Mating nail cutting edges are at the ends of two additional metal strips which are each welded above and below at opposite ends of the common metal strip. A pair of vertical retaining posts located at each end of the nail clipping unit hold lever arms which can be stored in the flat position or rotated around and put into the use position as in conventional nail clippers. In this way a manufacturer can produce a combined toe and finger nail clipper more economically than two separate nail clippers and the user can store the combined nail clipper in a smaller space without worrying about locating two separate clippers. The clipper can be constructed so that while one of the clippers is in use the cutting edges of its other are closed or only slightly open so as to avoid the corners of the cutting edges catching or scratching a finger of the user.

A subsea data collection and communication system is installed at a subsea interconnect point or subsea connector used for communication between subsea electrical, optical or hybrid electro-optical cables. The data collection and communication system is configured to collect system performance data such as voltage, current, optical pressure and the like from signals carried by the wires or fibers in cables connected to the connector unit, and may also collect data on environmental conditions from sensors installed in or on the connector unit, such as temperature, pressure, or sea water salinity sensors, and the like. Abstract:

Messages on controller area network (CAN) buses are communicated over subsea links. Repeaters couple CAN buses to each end of a subsea link. The subsea link may be, for example, a twisted pair or a single wire with a sea ground. The repeater detects a direction of transmission, that is, whether a signal began on the CAN bus coupled to the repeater or on the subsea link coupled to the repeater. Signals from the CAN bus are conditionally transmitted to the subsea link depending on the detected direction of transmission. Signals from the subsea link are conditionally transmitted to the CAN bus depending on the detected direction of transmission. The repeater can operate at the physical layer without analyzing contents of the CAN bus communications.

Abstract:

Methods and systems for determining the importance of each of the variables, or combinations of variables, that contribute to the overall score generated by a predictive statistical model are presented. In a specialized case, for each variable in the model, an importance is calculated based on the calculated slope and deviance of the predictive variable. In a more general case, for each variable in the model, an importance is calculated based on setting that variable to have the average value for the data set, and then calculating the change in score. The totality of variables (or combinations thereof) is then ranked by the Δscore, or a magnitude of it, such as |Δscore|.
