The present invention provides improved medical devices for use in surgical procedures and methods for manufacturing improved medical devices. In some embodiments, the improved medical devices can include improved surgical needles that are capable of being repeatedly passed through tissue using minimal force. More particularly, the improved surgical needles can be manufactured with two or more different coatings that provide the surgical needles with both durability and lubricity for ease of repeated and successive passes through tissue. Abstract:

A system is provided for a step optical printer to detect an out-of-frame condition in the printer projector and/or camera sections. The out-of-frame detector comprises a free wheeling encoder driven by film entering a gate of the printer and a second encoder driven by the printer drive mechanism. A comparator is connected to the outputs of the encoders to detect a lack of correspondence between the length of film entering the gate and the length of film being driven. Such lack of correspondence being indicative of an out-of-frame condition.

Abstract:

A thin-film transistor comprises an annealed layer comprising crystalline zinc oxide. A passivation layer is adjacent to the thin-film transistor. The passivation layer has a thickness and material composition such that when a dose of radiation from a radiation source irradiates the thin-film transistor, a portion of the dose that includes an approximate maximum concentration of the dose is located within the annealed layer. The annealed layer has a thickness and threshold displacement energies after it has been annealed such that: a) a difference between a transfer characteristic value of the thin-film transistor before and after the dose is less than a first threshold; and b) a difference between a transistor output characteristic value of the thin-film before and after the dose is less than a second threshold. The thresholds are based on a desired performance of the thin-film transistor.
