Abstract:

A vehicle traffic sensor for detecting and monitoring vehicular targets is presented. The sensor employs a planar design resulting in a reduced profile sensor. The sensor includes a multi-layer radio frequency board with RF components on one of the sides and both isolation and planar array antennas on the opposing side. The antennas are preferably tapered planar array antennas which include one transmit antenna and one receive antenna. The sensor also includes at least one logic or signal processing board populated with components on a first side and a ground plane on a second side positioned toward the RF componentry of the RF board to form an RF shield. The boards are housed within a housing that is permeable, at least on the side through which the antenna structures propagate.

Abstract:

A dual antenna transmitter includes a diversity encoding module that receives a data stream and provides a pair of encoded data streams selected to cause generation of overlapping symbols that provide substantially constant signal power to a receiver when the first and second antennas are unobstructed from the receiver. The diversity encoding module may compensate for the state retention of standard modulators thereby enabling the implementation of the Alamouti transmit diversity scheme. A wireless receiver capable of receiving data transmitted from the aforementioned transmitter includes a metric extraction module that repetitively extracts a metric from a transmitted signal at a selected rate to provide a first and a second metric stream, the first metric stream comprising data that is time offset from data in the second metric stream, the time offset corresponding to a differential time delay to the receiver for symbols emitted from the transmitter antennas.

Abstract:

An apparatus for physical therapy is disclosed herein. The device comprises a rectangular framework portion, including two long and two short sides, in which the long and short sides each have upper surfaces, lower surfaces, and surfaces interior and exterior to the rectangle, thus defining an interior area within said rectangle. A pair of linear cross support members, each having opposite end portions are disposed about the framework in a direction perpendicular to the length dimension of the rectangle defined by the framework. Each cross support member is attached at its opposite ends to the interior surfaces of both of said long sides of said framework, and thus defines a first inner polygon portion, a second inner polygon portion, and a third inner polygon portion within the interior area of said framework. Within the first and third polygon portions are contained miniature versions of trampolines, which comprise a sheet of fabric connected to the perimeter of the polygon by means of a plurality of springs. In the centermost polygon is located a holster means adapted for receiving a limb of a human subject, such as the foot or ankle, wherein the holster means is attached the perimeter of the centermost polygon of the framework by means of a plurality of elastomeric fasteners.
