A novel sordarin derivative was isolated from fungal cultures. The compound is useful in the treatment and/or prevention of human and animal fungal infections, as well as in the control of phytopathogenic fungi in crops. Two novel cultures of fungi, ATCC No. PTA-3862 and ATCC No. PTA-3861 can be used to ferment and produce the present compound.
