Abstract:

A process for biodegradation of an amine compound by contacting the amine mpound with a consortium of microorganisms effective for consuming carbon and nitrogen components of the amine compound under aerobic conditions, wherein the enzymatically degraded the amine compound forms an ammonia residue, nitrifying the ammonia residue under aerobic conditions, wherein the ammonia residue forms nitrite and nitrate residues and denitrifying the compound with the addition of a supplementary carbon source under anoxic conditions. The amine compound may be DS2 or similar amine structures. The microorganisms include Bacillus circulans, the genera Nitrosomonas, and the genera Nitrobacter. The process is a continuous-fed process in a bioreactor. A composition of microorganisms comprising Bacillus circulans, the genera Nitrosomonas, the genera Nitrobacter, and facultative heterotrophic denitrifiers effective to degrade DS2 also is disclosed.

Abstract:

An elongate brush with handle forming a "T"-shape, has a plurality of cups along a top portion, all facing generally toward an end of the elongate brush so that with the elongate brush vertical it can be used for stirring asphalt-type compounds in buckets and for dipping out predeterminable quantities and spreading them, with or without use of a rubber spreader fixed parallel with the elongate brush. The plurality of cups can be made as a unit and need only cover about half the length of the elongate brush from the handle to the end opposite the end that they face. Inclined brush shape is disclosed to facilitate pouring.

Abstract:

The inventive passive damping system features the unique harmonization of: (i) a constrained-layer damping subsystem (wherein an elastomer serves as constrained damping material); (ii) an entrained damping subsystem (wherein a particulate serves as entrained damping material); and, (iii) a tuned damping subsystem (wherein modal properties of certain inventive components have been selectively varied in accordance with anticipated resonance frequencies). The invention's effectiveness is aggregative; the total loss factor for the inventive damping system equals the sum of the individual loss factors for the damping subsystems. Consequently, the invention affords a high loss factor in a broad frequency range. Especially in applications involving control of extremely high vibrations, the inventive damping methodology is more efficient and economical than are common damping methodologies.

An exchange-traded note (ETN) having a plurality of ETN shares is generated and issued. Each ETN share of the ETN is issued having an initial share price. Buy orders are received to buy one or more ETN shares. The ETN tracks a plurality of internal and external indexes. The ETN share price fluctuates in accordance with the performance of the indexes. Data of the ETN is stored on a memory device and implemented as part of a blockchain architecture. Stored ETN data are updated periodically in response to a change of the plurality of internal and external indexes. An insurance premium cost is based at least in part upon the ETN share price.

Abstract:

A smart waste bin for waste management is provided. The smart waste bin may include a plurality of cameras, a deposit container, a plurality of waste receptacles, and a computing device including at least one processor in communication with at least one memory device. This invention relates to an apparatus and method for refurbishing lacrosse balls by using a fast, convenient, automated, entertaining, energy efficient, portable, and modular machine/method of removing a thin layer of rubber from the surface of a used lacrosse ball, by applying even pressure and random rotation of abrasive, one to four cups or rings, utilizing a combination of gravity and/or force of the cups against the surface of the ball, and the introduction of a solvent at various speeds, volume, and concentration, during and after the removal of a thin layer of rubber, to maximize the restoration of the rubber surface.
