A method of making a microneedle array structure () comprising a plurality of simultaneously formed microneedles (), each microneedle () having a protrusion () and a passageway () extending therethrough. Abstract:

A method of embossing a sheet material includes: heating at least a portion of the sheet directly or indirectly with radiant energy from a radiant energy source; pressing a tool against the heated portion of the sheet, thereby patterning a surface of the sheet; and separating the sheet and the tool. The radiant energy may travel through a solid material that is relatively transparent to radiation, on its way to being absorbed by a relatively-absorptive material. The relatively-transparent material may be an unheated portion of the sheet, and the relatively-absorptive material may be either the tool or the heated portion of the sheet. Alternatively, the relatively-transparent material may be the tool, and the relatively-absorptive material may be all or part of the sheet. The method may be performed as one or more roll-to-roll operations.

A surgical stapling instrument for performing a circular anastomosis stapling operation is provided. The surgical instrument includes a stapling head assembly mounted by a flexible support shaft to an actuator handle assembly. The support shaft is capable of bending in any radial direction relative to its centerline into a curved configuration suitable for insertion into a patient. The flexible support shaft includes a dual coil structure which is adapted to support itself in any curved configuration and to resist deflection upon insertion into the patient and actuation of the stapling head assembly. The stapling head assembly includes a driver assembly which is operable in multiple stages to separate the staple forming and tissue cutting actions to reduce the peak force required to operate the instrument. The actuator handle assembly includes a staple actuating lever and a cam follower assembly which operate in two stages with different mechanical advantages to facilitate the operation of the instrument by a surgeon. The actuator handle assembly includes a thumb wheel for opening and closing the anvil and an adjusting knob for adjusting the anvil gap.

Abstract:

An improved device for identifying an individual pop-top can having a pull tab for levering open the can is provided. The device includes a flexible resilient sleeve of elastomeric plastic or rubber or the like which slides over and seats on the free end of the pop-top can tab. The sleeve has a distinctive color, design, texture, written indicia or any combination thereof, in order to identify the individual can. A kit is also provided which includes a number of the sleeves, all of which differ from each other in color, texture, written indicia and/or design. One embodiment of the sleeve includes an integral plug which extends upwardly from the top of the sleeve and is shaped and dimensioned to plug the can opening to preserve the contents thereof after opening. The sleeve is simple, inexpensive and attractive and enables users of similar cans to identify their own cans and thus not drink from another user's can.
