Abstract:

A modular overhead console assembly adapted to be mounted to a roof of a vehicle within a passenger compartment of the vehicle. The modular overhead console assembly includes a rail that has a rail base and a rail head extending from the rail base, wherein a track is defined between the rail head and the rail base. The modular overhead console assembly further includes a movable module that slidably mounts to the rail along at least a portion of the length thereof. The movable module includes a base having a portion thereof extending into the track.

Abstract:

A latching mechanism adapted for use with an assembly within a passenger compartment of the vehicle. The latching mechanism includes an actuator pivotably mounted on the assembly, a biasing device coupled to the actuator, and a dampener coupled to the actuator. The actuator carries an engagement member that is disposed within a detent of a labyrinth when the assembly is closed. The dampener is also coupled to the assembly for retarding movement of the actuator, wherein upon a sudden impact affecting the assembly when closed, the dampener retards movement of the actuator for a predetermined time to enable the engagement member to remain disposed in the detent to keep the assembly closed.

Abstract:

There is disclosed a pickup truck conversion and a method of providing the same involving placing an access opening in the side wall of the pickup truck between the door and the rear-wall of the cab. In axial alignment with said access opening there is provided a frame assembly filling all or part of the space between the side walls and the rear-seat of the truck. The frame assembly defines a storage area therewithin, which can accept various storage means such as hinged storage boxes, various sliding drawers, tool boxes, a work bench, and the like, which are removable and which are slideably mounted within the frame assembly to provide easy access to the stored materials from outside of the pickup truck.

Abstract:

A removable storage assembly (24) for a truck bed cargo area (12) of the type having a first inner side wall (16) having a first lip (18) extending inwardly, and a second inner side wall (20) having a second lip (22) extending inwardly. The removable storage assembly (24) includes a lid (26) having flanges (28) for extending between the first inner side wall (16) and the second inner side wall (20). The flanges (28) extending over and positioned above the first lip (18) and the second lip (22). The lid (26) is characterized by a first tab (30) and a second tab (32) extending from the lid (26) below the flanges (28) and disposed under the first lip (18) and the second lip (22) to retain the lid (26) and to allow pivotal rotation of the lid (26) from a closed position (34) to an open position (36).
