Abstract:
An image projecting apparatus is provided to project a real image of an object to be displayed while obscuring the object from view by an observer located exteriorly of the image projecting apparatus. The apparatus includes a housing ( ) having an interior and a view area ( ) for the real image. First and second reflective surfaces ( ), such as mirrors, are disposed in the housing. The first reflective surf ( ) must be concave of a variety of geometric shapes. The second reflective surface ( ) may be concave or, alternatively, planar. A masking member is interposed between the object and the view area. The second reflective surface can define the masking member. The first and second reflective surfaces are arranged at an acute angle to each other.

Abstract:
An apparatus includes a characterization module configured to receive data associated with operational characteristics of a mechanical device, the operational characteristics being associated with a perceptual experience of the mechanical device. A conversion module is coupled to the characterization module. The conversion module is configured to automatically produce, substantially without user intervention, a parametric data set associated with the mechanical device based on the data. In another embodiment, a method includes receiving data associated with operational characteristics of a mechanical device. The operational characteristics are associated with a perceptual experience of the mechanical device. A parametric data set associated with the mechanical device is produced automatically, without user intervention. The parametric data set is associated with the mechanical device based on the data.
Apparatus and method for using a light source having spatially separated light emitting areas emitting light at different wavelengths to incapacitate a subject by a pattern of temporal flashing and/or color flashing of the light source. Also, power circuitry and optics particularly suited for flashing light incapacitation are included.

Abstract:
A catheter tip for delivering laser light energy to create lesions extending to a depth of several millimeters in tissue includes an elongated, flexible housing. A reflector is oriented longitudinally in a channel the housing. A side emitting optical fiber diffuser, extending the length of the reflector, is held at a fixed separation from the reflector. The reflector and the side emitting diffuser are configured and spaced to provide a convergent beam directed through the tissue under treatment. Reflector curvature may be circular or elliptical in cross section, or other selected shape. The diffuser and reflector relative positioning being selected to place the beam focal point (or image) at a predetermined lateral distance from the reflector preferably not closer than the far wall of the tissue under treatment. Temperature probes are provided to monitor the temperature gradient through the tissue thickness. Optionally cooling and/or irrigation fluid are provided. Optionally, the fiber terminates at a retro-reflector.

Abstract:
Systems and methods are disclosed herein for generating haptic feedback, tactile feedback, or force feedback to an electromechanical switch that is toggled by a user. In one specific example among many possible embodiments, a switch feedback system is disclosed. The switch feedback system comprises a user-operated switch, which is operable to toggle between one of an open state and a closed state. The switch feedback system also includes electrical circuitry in electrical communication with the user-operated switch, wherein the electrical circuitry is configured to react to a change of state of the user-operated switch. The system also includes a haptic feedback device in electrical communication with the user-operated switch and in physical communication with the user-operated switch. The haptic feedback device is configured to detect the change of state of the user-operated switch and provide a haptic feedback to the user-operated switch in response to the detected change of state.
A packet switching system includes encoding circuitry for generating and intermittently transmitting a plurality of data packets in serial bit stream format. Each data packet consists of a plurality of data words and one or more address words where each such word includes an initial constant value start bit, either a data byte or an address byte, and a steering bit which indicates whether the word is the last to occur address word in the packet. The address byte represents a dimensional identity common to all of the data words in the data packet. The system also includes decoding circuitry including a start bit decoder for sensing the presence of a start bit and a shift register having a number of storage locations equal to the total number of bits in the one or more address bytes, into which bits from the serial bit stream are serially shifted. A register control circuit enables the shift register to receive only the address or data byte bits. A steering bit circuit senses the occurrence of the steering bit and generates an output signal when the word being received is the last to occur address word.
