Abstract:

The preferred arrangement utilizes a magnet suspended at the center of an elastic cord over a pickup coil. Movement of the magnet is sensed by the coil in that signals are generated by such movement. The signals are processed in the combination of a time delay circuit and a comparator to provide an output which is a measure of acceleration of the element on which the elastic cord is mounted and, in one form, by a measure of jerk in a similar time delay circuit and comparator combination.

Abstract:

A method for forming a coating on a component of a substrate processing system includes arranging the component in a processing chamber and applying a ceramic material to form the coating on one or more surfaces of the component. The ceramic material is comprised of a mixture including a rare earth oxide and having a grain size of less than 150 nm and is applied while a temperature within the processing chamber is less than 400 C. The coating has a thickness of less than 30 μm. A heat treatment process is performed on the coated component in a heat treatment chamber. The heat treatment process includes increasing a temperature of the heat treatment chamber from a first temperature to a second temperature that does not exceed a melting temperature of the mixture over a first period and maintaining the second temperature for a second period.

Markers, microwave probes, and related systems and methods are provided for localizing lesions within a patient's body, e.g., within a breast. The marker includes an energy converter e.g., one or more photodiodes, for transforming energy pulses striking the marker into electrical energy, a switch, e.g., FET, coupled to the photodiodes such that light from a probe cause the switch to open and close. A pair of antenna wires are coupled to the switch to provide an antenna, the switch configured to open and close when light strikes the photodiodes to modulate signals from the probe reflected by the antenna back to the probe to identify the location of the marker. The marker also includes an electro static discharge (ESD) protection device coupled to the switch to provide protection against an electrostatic discharge event.

A depth restrained cutting device for preventing unintended contact with live wires includes a plate that is rigid. The plate is configured to couple to a cutting tool. A cutting edge is coupled to and extends radially from a circumference of the plate. A stop is coupled to a first face of the plate. The stop is dimensionally smaller than the plate. The stop is configured to contact a surface of a substrate that is to be cut, such as a polyvinyl chloride pipe, to prevent contact of the cutting edge with articles, such as wires, that are positioned in the substrate.

Abstract:

A method for treating a nonhomogeneous material surface of an object is provided. A plurality of test patches of the surface is treated for different amounts of time wherein the plurality of test patches have a total surface area. A property of each test patch is measured. A calibration curve of the property is generated with respect to time. The calibration curve and a target property are used to obtain a target time. A surface of the object with a surface area, which is greater than the total surface area of the plurality of test patches, is treated for the target time.
