Abstract:

A shoe-to-pedal attachment system for bicyclists includes a shoe ring formed in the tread pattern of the sole of a shoe, the shoe ring having an undercut retaining edge formed along the periphery thereof and having a domed centering button formed within the retaining edge. A pedal body includes top and bottom identically-shaped pedal rings, either of which may be retained within the undercut retaining edge of the shoe ring when the bicyclist steps onto the pedal body. In an alternative embodiment, a shoe button is attached to the shoe sole, and the pedal body includes a central retaining spring that is open toward the proximal end of the pedal axle. A retaining lip formed at the open top and bottom ends of the retaining spring engages the peripheral edge of the shoe button when the bicyclist steps onto the pedal body.

A sack for enclosing and compressing resilient materials, such as clothing items and sleeping bags having high air content filling, i. e. , down filled matter or synthetics incorporating air voids, in the form of a stuff sack having a plurality of longitudinally extending adjustable length straps attached to the sack at opposed ends thereof and equidistantly spaced around the circumference of the sack, such that when the sack is "stuffed" in a conventional manner, substantial additional longitudinal force may be applied either by the straps or externally, and the straps shorten to telescope the sack into a compressed and stable configuration.

Abstract:

A method for producing a wall, roadway, sidewalk or floor of cementitious material having the appearance of natural stone and mortar including a base with an outer surface with a plurality of irregular shaped protrusions disposed in a random pattern to simulate natural stones and a plurality of simulated grout lines formed therebetween, the method including the steps of preparing a cementitious material, pouring the cementitious material into a form, vibrating the cementitious material, allowing the cementitious material to cure forming the base with the outer surface, releasing the base with the plurality of irregular shaped protrusions disposed in the random pattern to simulate natural stones and the plurality of simulated grout lines formed therebetween from the form, coloring the outer surface and accenting the plurality of simulated grout lines.

Abstract:

A method for producing a replicated stone surface comprising the steps of preparing a polymer mortar, coating a substrate with the polymer mortar, leveling the polymer mortar to a substantially even thickness, creating a textured surface on the polymer mortar, applying a hydrophobic release agent to the surface of polymer mortar, displacing portions of the polymer mortar by pressing a patterned tool on the surface of the polymer mortar to form the plurality of simulated stones with raised peripheral edges and intervening simulated grout lines, allowing the polymer mortar to cure, applying a pigment to the surface of the plurality of simulated stones and simulated intervening grout lines, buffing the surface of the plurality of simulated stones and simulated intervening grout lines to impregnate the pores thereof with the pigment, abrading the surface of the plurality of simulated stones to create a weathered appearance and sealing the surface of the plurality of simulated stones and simulated intervening grout lines with a sealer to protect the replicated stone surface.

A patterned tool and method for producing a durable tactile warning surface for sidewalks and other walkways including pouring a concrete base, applying pigmented or colored hardener to the upper surface of the concrete base, stamping the upper surface of the concrete base with the patterned tool including a substantially flat member having a plurality of symmetrically disposed recesses of a predetermined diameter and depth formed on the lower surface thereof and a plurality of corresponding vent channels formed through the substantially flat member in communication with each corresponding recess and curing the concrete base to form a durable tactile warning surface including a plurality of symmetrically disposed raised elements of a predetermined diameter, height and spacing corresponding to the plurality of recesses to produce an uneven surface visually contrasting with adjacent surface areas.
