Michael met his wife Emily at college while finishing a degree in Speech Communications at Pensacola Christian College. He firmly believes marrying Emily was one of the absolute best decisions he has ever made. Since graduating Michael and Emily have been truly blessed with three fantastic kids. Briggs, Lacee, and Gavin are a wonderful addition to the McClain family and very obviously make Michael and Emily Proud. While Emily doesn't work outside the home she stays incredibly busy raising the kids and does an incredible job with them while supporting Michael in his business. Michael contends that Emily probably works harder than he does and refuses to entertain the idea of switching roles. Extremely active in their church, the family spends a lot of time serving and worshipping at Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church. They love their pastor Dr. Jeff Owens and his staff and feel the Lord would have them to raise their family under this great man of God. Both Sunday School teachers for the seven grade boys and eighth grade girls respectively, Michael and Emily have come to look forward to working with the kids and to see them maturing through the years into fine adults. Michael is also a Bus Captain for Bus #11 and has been for several years. Every Saturday he and his workers spend time visiting families and their children inviting them to church while encouraging them. Sunday mornings consist of rising early and preparing to pick the kids up for Sunday School. On the way to church the kids enjoy lots of fun songs while learning about Jesus and how to live right. Sunday afternoons on the way home are always fun with eating contests, water balloons, and lots of candy! Both Emily and Michael are involved in the choir and special music programs at the church and each look forward to their weekly practices as well as opportunities to praise the Lord in song. Michael also loves the opportunity that pastor Dr. Jeff Owens gives him to preach to the young kids in primary church. Usually between 100 and 160 little 4,5, and 6 year old boys and girls come to church every week, and Michael is privileged to teach them from the Bible. He counts this as "an exciting and sobering opportunity to help shape the lives of these little boys and girls." While rarely finding the time to watch sports, Michael is an athlete and absolutely loves the opportunity to help the sports teams at the church with coaching. During the school year he helps with the soccer teams and basketball teams, and during the summer he coaches the teen baseball league. He loves helping the boys to become men while helping to build their character through discipline and teamwork. While family and the church are certainly a large part of their lives . . . They believe in hard work and Michael puts his heart into what he does. He really loves real estate and counts it an incredible opportunity to make a living doing something he loves so much. From his first year in real estate Michael has seen great success with his business growing rapidly from his satisfied clients sending him their referrals.
