Abstract:
Access to stored information by a user is controlled by comparing an actual geographic position and/or an actual date/time with a geographic region and/or a date/time interval within which access to the stored information is authorized. The actual geographic position where the stored information is located, and the actual date/time can be determined, for example, based on signals received at a receiver supplying reliable position and time information, such as a GPS receiver. Access to the stored information is authorized if the actual geographic position and/or date/time falls within the authorized geographic region and/or date/time interval. The position and date/time information supplied by the receiver may be cryptographically signed and encrypted.

Abstract:
A turbine acceleration control system for a transmission in a vehicle determines a desired turbine acceleration based on a downshift type and an altitude of the vehicle. The turbine acceleration control system determines a downshift type that results from one of a throttle increase, a manual downshift, or vehicle deceleration. An altitude module determines an altitude of the vehicle. A vehicle controller communicates with one or more lookup tables to determine the desired turbine acceleration based on the downshift type and the altitude. Additionally, current turbine speed and torque converter slip are considered by the controller in determining the desired turbine acceleration.

Abstract:
A method of determining the shift lever position of an electronic automatic transmission system by identifying the mode of transmission operation selected by the driver of the vehicle to provide hysteresis between the park, reverse, neutral, drive and low positions, to permit improved performance and response of the controller and to permit limited operation of the controller upon the occurrence or detection of a fault effecting the performance of the transmission. Such faults include the loss of a PRND2L sensor and the loss of one or more sensors indicative of the dynamics of the vehicle or hydraulic circuit.

Abstract:
The present provides a shutdown shift schedule which allows a vehicle driver an increased number of gear states to increase driveability. This method monitors the gear state conditions indicative of the gear state which said automatic transmission is in. When the shift state conditions vary from predetermined standards, the controller uses the shutdown shift schedule in place of the shift schedule for changing gears of the automatic transmission. This shutdown shift schedule is adapted to allow a 3-1 shift when the shift solenoid is in a shift D position and the shift state is 3. The shutdown shift schedule is also adapted to allow a 3-2 shift when the shift state is 3 and the shift solenoid is in the shift 2 position.
