Abstract:
An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for reducing rotational vibration transmission within a data storage system. A storage device apparatus comprises a carrier having opposing first and second side plates. A support point may be disposed within the first side plate at about a longitudinal center region of the carrier. The support point is configured to contact an enclosure that mounts a plurality of carriers and is the sole support point in the first side plate. Preferably, the support point is positioned such that minimal rotational vibration is transmitted within the data storage system once the carrier is placed in an enclosure housing a plurality of carriers. A second support point may be disposed in the second side plate.
This invention is in the field of medical devices. Specifically, the present invention provides portable medical devices that allow real-time detection of analytes from a biological fluid. The methods and devices are particularly useful for providing point-of-care testing for a variety of medical applications. In particular, the medical device reduces interference with an optical signal which is indicative of the presence of an analyte in a bodily sample.

The methods and devices are particularly useful for providing point-of-care testing for a variety of medical applications. In particular, the medical device reduces interference with an optical signal which is indicative of the presence of an analyte in a bodily sample.
A method for detecting analytes involves measuring the fluorescence of a sample of fluorescence-attenuated carbon nanotubes, then exposing the sample to a target analyte, and then measuring the fluorescence again. The fluorescence-attenuated nanotubes include a chemical having quenching portion that interacts with the nanotubes and attenuates the fluorescence, a receptor portion that binds to a target analyte and a tether portion that connects the receptor portion to the quenching portion. If the target analyte binds to the receptor portion of the chemical, the interaction between the chemical and the nanotubes and the chemical is weakened and the original fluorescence of the carbon nanotubes is restored.
A device for handling a fluid to be introduced into a fluidic device is described. The fluid handling device is designed for alignment with a fluidic device, such as a microfluidic device, where an exit port on the device aligns with one or more apertures in the fluidic for exchange of fluids there between. The fluid handling device includes one or more channels, with at least two pistons spaced apart contained in one or more of the channels. The gap between neighboring pistons define a space between the pistons for containing a fluid. Movement of the pistons from a first position to a second position is effective to move fluid from the fluid handling device into the fluidic device.

Abstract:
A nanostructure film, comprising at least one interconnected network of nanostructures, wherein the nanostructure film is optically transparent and electrically conductive. A method for improving the optoelectronic properties of a nanostructure film, comprising: forming a nanostructure film having a thickness that, if uniform, would result in a first optical transparency and a first sheet resistance that are lower than desired; and patterning holes in the nanostructure film, such that a desired higher second optical transparency and a second sheet resistance are achieved. A method for depositing a nanostructure film on a rigid substrate comprises: depositing the nanostructure film on a flexible substrate; and transferring the nanostructure film from the flexible substrate to a rigid substrate, wherein the flexible substrate comprises at least one of a release liner and a heat- or chemical-sensitive adhesive layer.

Abstract:
A mixture of carbon nanotubes is separated into fractions that are enriched with a desired chirality by exposing a solution or suspension of the carbon nanotubes to a separation medium. A portion of the mixture forms complexes with, and becomes attached to, the separation medium. Exposure to other reagents results in dissociation of the complexes and release of the nanotubes from the separation medium.
