Abstract:
A rack and pinion steering system including a rack slidably supported within a housing that engages in a pinion gear. A yoke assembly, including a yoke member engaging the rack, operates to guide the rack and maintain engagement of the rack and pinion during operation of the steering system. A retainer member holds a yoke plug, used in the yoke assembly, in position and also seals the yoke assembly to provide a sealed interface that protects the internal components of the steering system from water and other contaminants.

Abstract:
Video sources and inertial sensors are attached to a weapon and to goggles. A computer receives video images from the weapon- and goggles-mounted sources and inertial data from the sensors. The computer calculates a location for an image from the weapon-mounted source within an image from the goggles-mounted source using the inertial sensor data. The sensor-based location is checked (and possibly adjusted) based on a comparison of the images. A database contains information about real-world objects in a field of view of the goggles-mounted source, and is used to generate icons or other graphics concerning such objects.
Lightweight Concrete For Building Construction Components
A method for preparing a lightweight concrete including mixing a slurry comprising water, a cementing binder and a fine grain aggregate together. Polystyrene pellets are add-mixed to the slurry to form a substantially homogeneous lightweight concrete mixture. A second embodiment is a method for making a lightweight concrete panel for use in a building's construction. The method includes coupling together a plurality of frame segments so that a concrete frame is established. The frame has an interior space that forms a receiver for a lightweight concrete mixture. The frame is filled with a lightweight concrete mixture so that the interior space is spanned by the lightweight concrete mixture across the frame. The lightweight concrete mixture is cured to a rigid state so that the set lightweight concrete mixture is retained within the frame thereby forming a lightweight concrete panel.

Abstract:
The invention is a Weld Analysis and Control System developed for active weld system control through real time weld data acquisition. Closed-loop control is based on analysis of weld system parameters and weld geometry. The system is adapted for use with automated welding apparatus having a weld controller which is capable of active electronic control of all aspects of a welding operation. Enhanced graphics and data displays are provided for post-weld analysis. The system provides parameter acquisition, including seam location which is acquired for active torch cross-seam positioning. Torch stand-off is also monitored for control. Weld bead and parent surface geometrical parameters are acquired as an indication of weld quality. These parameters include mismatch, peaking, undercut, underfill, crown height, weld width, puddle diameter, and other measurable information about the weld puddle regions, such as puddle symmetry, etc. These parameters provide a basis for active control as well as post-weld quality analysis and verification.
A method of manufacturing a projectile resistant concrete panel used in the construction of buildings including making a concrete panel and applying a composite laminate thereto. The method includes coupling together a plurality of frame segments so that a concrete frame is established. The frame has an interior space that forms a receiver for a concrete mixture. The frame is filled with the mixture so that the interior space is spanned by the mixture across the frame. The concrete mixture is cured to a rigid state so that the set concrete mixture is retained within the frame thereby forming a concrete panel. The concrete mixture may be a lightweight mixture having polystyrene pellets therein which improve upon the insulating characteristics of the panel. Building construction panels manufactured from the concrete mixture may be combined with high strength laminate coatings or layers. In this layered embodiment, the combination panel embodies sufficient strength characteristics to resist high wind storm conditions including strike tests of airborne objects.

Abstract:
A vehicle includes first and second A-pillars with a cross-car beam connecting the first and second A-pillars. A steering column assembly is positioned within the vehicle and includes at least one pivot joint. A single attachment component directly connects the pivot joint to the cross-car beam.
Search points in a search space may be projected onto images from cameras imaging different parts of the search space. Subimages, corresponding to the projected search points, may be selected and processed to determine if a target object has been detected. Based on subimages in which target objects are detected, as well as orientation data from cameras capturing images from which the subimages were selected, positions of the target objects in the search space may be determined.

and it was clear the race was over halfway through. Gatlin proceeded to blow everyone away in the second half of the race, winning by .16 over runner-up Michael Rodgers. The performance was also good enough to give Gatlin the Diamond League title even though he missed four of the seven points races.
Gay clocked 9.93 to beat Michael Rodgers in an all-American 1-2-3. It was a decent performance from Gay, but still far from the level that made him the second fastest sprinter behind Usain Bolt. Gay won the 100 at Athletissima in 9.79 a year ago.
Michael Rodgers, the department's chief legal counsel, acknowledged receipt of the note in a letter sent to Thompson on Tuesday but said the state had not received a request to authorize the transfer of the animals.
