Abstract:

An invention is disclosed which comprises siloxane-based polyamides as gelling agents for cosmetic products, methods for making such agents, formulations thereof and cosmetic formulations therewith. These polyamides contain siloxane groups in the main chain and act to thicken compositions containing volatile and/or non-volatile silicone fluids. Cosmetic compositions may be made by adding at least one active ingredient such as an antiperspirant.

Abstract:

A method of making siloxane-based polyamides which includes at least one repeating unit represented by the formula wherein X is a linear or branched C -C alkylene chain; Y is a linear or branched C -C alkylene chain; DP is an integer having a value of 10-500; n is an integer having a value 1-500. The method involves heating an intimate reaction mixture containing an olefinic acid and an organic diamine at a temperature greater than 100Â C. and forming an organic diamide; and thereafter reacting the organic diamide with a hydride-terminated polydimethylsiloxane in the presence of a hydrosilylation catalyst to form the siloxane-based polyamide.

Abstract:

The present invention relates to a method of making silicone release coating compositions comprising mixing a vinyl functional organopolysiloxane, an organohydrogensilicon compound, a platinum group metal-containing catalyst, and certain silylated acetylenic inhibitors. The present invention further relates to a method of making silicone release coating compositions comprising mixing an organopolysiloxane compound having alkenyl groups which contain at least four carbon atoms, an organohydrogensilicon compound, a platinum group metal-containing catalyst, and a silylated acetylenic compound having its formula selected from the group consisting of: HCâCâQâOâSiâ(R ) , HCâCâQâOâSi(R ) âOâQâCâCH, and HâSiâ(OâQâCâCH) where R is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, monovalent hydrocarbon radicals free of aliphatic unsaturation, and an alkenyl group, and Q is a divalent hydrocarbon radical at least 3 carbon atoms, with the proviso that there is at most one silicon-bonded hydrogen group or one silicon-bonded alkenyl group per silylated acetylenic compound.

Abstract:

A fiber treated with a treating agent which is the reaction product of a polysiloxane having at least one aminofunctional group substituted on a silicon atom and having at least one hydrogen--nitrogen bond with a monoacrylate polyether. The present treated fiber has good hand, little yellowing, and improved hydrophilicity when compared to fibers treated with convention aminofunctional polyorganosiloxanes.

Abstract:

A fiber treatment composition is disclosed. The composition contains siloxanes having amine-, polyol, and amide-functionalities. The composition provides good hand, resistance to yellowing, and hydrophilicity to the fibers. The composition is preferably formulated as an aqueous emulsion. Applying the composition to textile fabrics produces treated fabrics having good hydrophilicity, good hand, and resistance to yellowing.

Abstract:

Poly(siloxane-acrylate) elastomers with low weep characteristics are formed by the steps of: (A) forming an amine functional alkenyl-containing siloxane by mixing and heating: (a) a polydiorganosiloxane, (b) an amino-functional silane hydrolyzate, (c) an alkenylorganosiloxane, and (d) a base equilibration catalyst, then (B) reacting, at room temperature, the amine functional alkenyl-containing siloxane with an acrylate to form a curable alkenyl-containing poly(siloxane-acrylate) with oxycarbonylethyleneimino-containing organic groups, and (C) curing the alkenyl-containing poly(siloxane-acrylate) to form an poly(siloxane-acrylate) elastomer.
