Abstract:

A system and method of displaying interactive content relevant to a broadcast presentation on a viewer display associated with a viewer device. The method begins with the receipt, at said viewer device, of a broadcast presentation from a broadcast presentation provider. Next, the viewer device receives relevant interactive content from a source of interactive content, filtered and characterized for a specific user. This additional content is bound to the broadcast content only by nature of a relevancy mapping. As such, it may be presented to the user without the broadcast content providers direct assistance. The viewer device merges the broadcast presentation and the relevant interactive content and displays both the broadcast presentation and the relevant interactive content on a viewer display. Preferably, the viewer device accesses the source of relevant interactive content over a computer network, such as the Internet.

In a peer-to-peer multi-media communication network, a system for controlling a broadcast viewing experience of one user (second user) by a first user. Each user has access to a user workstation including at least an input device and a display device. The second user's workstation includes a storage device for storing at least user input for controlling a display on a display device coupled to the second user workstation. The first user workstation includes a dynamic display controller, responsive to an input device on the first user workstation, for receiving input from the first user workstation and for transmitting the user input to at least the second user workstation. A system and method of enhancing the viewing experience of at least one viewer of a broadcast presentation by displaying, in a background layer of a single-window, layered display, a broadcast presentation, and for displaying, in at least a second layer of the layered display, at least one overlay having a substantially transparent background and having at least one overlay having a plurality of user-selectable multi-media tools, for manipulating the overlay by adding user-prepared enhancements to be viewed in connection with the broadcast presentation. The controlling entity may control who has key access to decode posts made by the other account. The guardian account may be configured to have preemptive rights over posting decisions made by the minor.

Systems and methods may be provided for masking data on public networks, such as social networking sites. The system may intercept data, such as text, images, and video input at the data input fields, prior to the data being posted online on a public service provider's website. The publishing node may control which users are permitted access to the posted data by defining a policy associated with the data input field. The posted data may be transformed or tokenized to ensure that it is inaccessible to a user (or group of users) unless that user/group is granted access to the decoding key under the policy. In this way, data security and data control may be provided to a publishing user node. Data that has already been posted may be destroyed, for example, by deleting the decryption key or a token.
