Abstract:
A livestock cooling system creates an environment for protecting the health and productivity of animals, particularly dairy cows. One or more cooling fans are connected to programmable oscillation means, enabling the herds man to program fan oscillation according to the location of the livestock. Water is injected under high pressure into the air stream of the fans to create a fog. The system is also programmable according to various environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity, and wind velocity. The pressure and volume of the injected water are programmable and may be adjusted by the controller according to the observed environmental conditions. The disclosed system provides a cool and healthy environment for livestock, where the environment is programmed to track the animals according to the time of day and the location of shade.

Abstract:
A gear drive fan for ventilating and cooling structures used for containing livestock. The gear drive fan comprises a livestock structure having a roof and supporting members, where the roof is connected to the supporting members, a fan assembly, and means for attaching the fan assembly to the structure. The fan assembly comprises a blade assembly having a plurality of blades and a drive hub, a housing, a first electrical motor having a drive shaft, and a gearbox having a drive end and a hub end. The drive end of the gearbox is adapted to be closely coupled to the drive shaft of the motor, while the hub end is adapted to be closely coupled to the drive hub of the blade assembly, so that the motor and gearbox may be conveniently mounted to the blade housing or contained within the blade housing. The means for attaching the fan assembly to the structure include an wall-mounted or ceiling-mounted box enclosure, an oscillating enclosure, and an enclosure which is suspended by an adjustable hanger connected to a support member of the livestock structure.

Abstract:
A livestock cooling apparatus comprising an electrically-powered fan, which is capable of oscillating 360 degrees. The apparatus may be used in conjunction with a programmable cooling system for livestock which allows each fan in the system to be programmed to sweep a designated area according to observed environmental conditions or according to the time of day. The cooling apparatus may further comprise a mist ring for injecting water into the airstream created by the fan to provide for evaporative cooling of the livestock.
The disclosed system provides a cool and healthy environment for livestock, where the environment is programmed to track the animals according to the time of day, location of the animals and the location of shade.
A fan cooling system has individual fan modules which are connected together in an end-to-end configuration, where one of the fan modules is connected to a mechanism which rotates the linear array of fan modules. The fan modules are substantially identical, which allows prefabrication of the fan modules prior to on-site installation of the system. Each fan module may contain water injection piping and nozzles, which allows the fan cooling system to dispense fog. The linear array of fan modules may be rotated along a longitudinal axis, such that the axial flow direction of the fans may be changed with respect to a vertical plane. A suggested use of the fan cooling system is for the cooling of livestock in large livestock structures.

Abstract:
A receiver mounted drum lifter which may be mounted utilizing the receiver pocket of a standard tow bar trailer hitch. The receiver pocket is typically the female member of the hitch platform fitted to the vehicle, where the receive pocket normally receives a male member having a hitch ball attached. The disclosed device lifts a drum or similar container from a first position in which the long axis of the drum is oriented in a generally vertical position, with an inlet/outlet also oriented in an upright vertical position, to a second position in which the long axis of the drum is oriented such that the inlet/outlet is in a sufficiently downwardly facing position to allow the contents of the drum to be emptied through the inlet/outlet. Embodiments of the disclosed apparatus comprise a framework adapted to be mounted in the receiver pocket. The framework comprises a drum cradling section and an inertia overcoming section.

Abstract:
A climate control system comprising a base, a mast extending from the base, a fan mounted on the mast for producing an airflow, the airflow being directed by an adjustable diffuser, and a fog introduction system connected to a water source and mounted adjacent to the fan. The fog introduction system introduces fog into the airflow. The fog introduction system comprises at least one fog ring and the water source may further comprise a pump. The climate control system may further comprising a heat source. The fog ring may comprise nozzles, and the nozzle diameter may be in the range of 0.002 to 0.02 inches.
