New York Police Department officials said the fleeing suspect, Miguel Espinal, was shot once in the chest following a struggle in which an officer's gun discharged. Espinal appears to have been unarmed. No weapon was found at the scene, police said.

Police: Suspect Fatally Shot After Police Chase in Yonkers
The driver of the Nissan, identified as 36-year-old Miguel Espinal, of Queens, ran into nearby woods. Officers went after him and during a struggle an officer's firearm discharged, striking the suspect in the torso, police said. Espinal was pronounced dead at the scene.
