Abstract:
This invention contemplates an accurate and efficient estimation of gene copy number using oligonucleotide microarrays. The method integrates gene copy number data obtained from perfect match and mismatch probe sequence structure intensities and probe binding affinities. In one embodiment, an accurate determination of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) sequences is obtained. In another embodiment, an accurate detection and determination of DNA copy number alteration is obtained. In another embodiment, an accurate estimation for RNA gene expression is obtained.

Abstract:
Improvements on the basic method used for BEAMing increase sensitivity and increase the signal-to-noise ratio. The improvements have permitted the determination of intrinsic error rates of various DNA polymerases and have permitted the detection of rare and subtle mutations in DNA isolated from plasma of cancer patients.

Abstract:
An expandable stent () for use in the implantation of a valve prosthesis () using a delivery system () is disclosed. The self-expandable stent () includes a tubular lattice structure () defined by longitudinally aligned rods () connected to V- shaped struts () for forming a plurality of interconnected chevron-shaped six-sided polygons () that define a distal end zone () and a middle zone () of the tubular lattice structure (). A flare () or bend may be defined along opposite ends of each rod () to properly seat and prevent undue torsion of the stent () and valve prosthesis () during deployment and placement of the stent () within the lumen.

Abstract:
There is provided herein a refrigerant receiver for use in an automotive air conditioning system. The receiver includes a generally cylindrical body, a circular closure member secured at one end of the body and a manifold member configured to engage the closure member. The manifold includes a bottom surface having a stepped configuration which sealingly engages a corresponding stepped surface on the closure member. A single threaded fastener is utilized to secure the manifold to the closure member.

Abstract:
The use of multiple ion chains in a single ion trap for quantum information processing (QIP) systems is described. Each chain can have its own set of laser beams with which to implement and operate quantum gates within that chain, where each chain may therefore correspond to a single quantum computing register or core. Operations can be performed in parallel across all of these chains as they can be treated independently from each other. To implement and operate quantum gates between different chains, neighboring chains are merged into a single, larger chain, in which one can perform quantum gates between any of the ions in the larger chain. The combined chains can then be separated again by another shuttling event as needed. To implement and operate quantum gates between ions which do not occupy neighboring chains, swap gates can be used via a sequence of intervening chains.
A computing device includes a thermal map generator ()that generates a thermal map for image data voxels or pixels representing a volume or region of interest of a subject based on thermometry image data, which includes voxels or pixels indicating a change in a temperature in the volume or region of interest, and a predetermined change in value to temperature lookup table () and a display () that visually presents the thermal map in connection with image data of the volume of interest. A method includes generating a thermal map for image data voxels or pixels representing a volume or region of interest of a subject based on thermometry image data, which includes voxels or pixels indicating a change in a temperature in the volume or region of interest, and a predetermined change in voxel or pixel value to temperature lookup table.

Abstract:
Compositions and methods for modulating injection site pain associated with rapid acting injectable insulin formulations have been developed for subcutaneous injection. The formulations contain insulin in combination with a zinc chelator such as ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (“EDTA”), a dissolution/stabilization agent such as citric acid, a magnesium salt, and, optionally, additional excipients. New presentations include rapid acting concentrated insulin formulations and a way to enhance the absorption of commercially available rapid acting analog formulations by mixing them with a vial containing dry powder excipients that accelerate their absorption. Devices for mixing excipient and insulin together at the time of administration, while minimizing residence time of the mixture, are also described.
