Abstract:
A catheter for treatment of chronic total occlusions includes an occlusion breach device, a catheter body made of a temperature-dependent softening, shape-memory, thermoplastic polymer having a first flexible state and a second stiff state. The catheter body has a heat transfer conduit and a conduit for slidably receiving the breach device. A heat-transferring device selectively changes a temperature of the heat transfer conduit to, thereby, change stiffness of the catheter body between the two states. To treat a CTO with the catheter, it is warmed above the glass-transition temperature and below the melting-temperature to make the catheter flexible. The catheter has a shape when inserted at the occlusion site and is cooled to, thereby, stiffen. Breaching of the occlusion is assisted with the stiff catheter. The catheter is removed by warming the polymer.
Method And System For Maintaining Aseptic Conditions In The Storage Of Biologics
Technologies are generally described for the storage of biologics and other fluid materials while maintaining aseptic conditions. A system may include a storage body providing a reservoir for containing the materials. A cap may couple to the storage body forming a fluid-tight seal. A port may be provided for transferring the materials. A seal, or valve, may be provided within the port. The seal may be configured to close off the reservoir unless acted upon to release the materials through the port. A movable member may make up part of the storage body. The movable member may be configured to change a reservoir volume of the storage body in response to changes in a volume of the materials. The reservoir may become smaller as the materials are released. Multi-dose volumes of fluid materials may be stored for repeated access with reduced risk of contamination and reduction in shelf life.

Abstract:
A fluid for use in hydraulic fracturing contains underivatized guar or a guar gum derivative as viscosifying or gelling polymer, a crosslinking agent, carbon dioxide as foaming agent and urea and, optionally, a bifunctional organic compound containing at least one hydroxyl group and at least one quaternary group and, optionally, a non-gaseous foaming agent. The fluid may be characterized by a low pH such as a pH than or equal to 3.0 and less than or equal to 5.0.
Well Treatment Fluids Containing Biodegradable Zirconium Crosslinker And Methods Of Using The Same
A fracturing fluid containing a hydratable viscosifying polymer and a zirconium acetylacetonate crosslinker provides a green alternative to conventional systems. The zirconium aceylacetonate is dissolved in benzyl alcohol or in a mixture of benzyl alcohol and 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-4(yl)-methanol. The pH of the fracturing fluid may be between from about 3.5 to about 11.5. The fracturing fluid may contain an acidic buffering agent or a basic buffering agent. The fracturing fluid may be pumped into a well in order to initiate or enlarge a fracture within a subterranean formation penetrated by the well.

Abstract:
A gel composition for use in subterranean formations is disclosed. The composition can comprise a base fluid, a cross-linkable polymer that is soluble in the base fluid, a nonionic surfactant and a cross-linking agent. The gel composition has improved crosslinked stability. The gel composition can be injected into the subterranean formation as a fracturing fluid and allowed to penetrate the formation. Preferably, the gel composition effectively blocks the water-bearing regions while the oil or gas producing regions are left unblocked so that the oil or gas can be recovered.
