Abstract:

A lid for a container holding a flowable substance has an annular top wall. A side wall depends from the top wall, and has a mounting portion for connecting the lid on the container. The top wall has an opening that is adapted to permit the flow of the substance through the lid. The top wall also has a retaining member. The lid further has a closure member positioned on the mounting portion. The closure member is movable between a first position and a second position, wherein at least a portion of the closure member is received in the opening in the first position and at least a portion of the closure member is received in the retaining member in the second position. The opening and the closure member are cooperatively dimensioned such that the closure member is removably inserted in the opening. The retaining member and the closure member are cooperatively dimensioned such that the closure member is removably inserted in the retaining member. The closure member has a flexible connector arm which facilitates movement of the closure member between the first and second positions.

A reclosable lid for a container holding a flowable substance has a first piece or cover , and a movable second piece or disk. The cover has a top wall , a side wall and a mounting portion for connecting the lid on the container. The cover has an opening adapted to permit the flow of the substance through the lid. The cover further includes a slot located in the top wall. The disk has at least one aperture , a post , and a projection. The aperture and the projection are each cooperatively dimensioned with the opening. The post is adapted to be received by the slot in the cover. The disk is movable between a first position wherein at least a portion of the projection is received in the opening in the first position, and a second position wherein the aperture is aligned with the opening in the second position. A support ledge and a support edge on an inner surface of the cover are adapted to provide rotatable support to the disk.

A reclosable lid for a container holding a flowable substance has a cover and a rotatable element rotatably supported by the cover. The cover has an opening and a slot located in a top wall of the cover. The cover also has a tab extending outward from a portion of the cover. The rotatable element has at least one aperture and an actuator that is accessible through the slot. The element is moveable by manipulation of the actuator between a first position wherein the aperture is misaligned with the opening , and a second position wherein the aperture is aligned with the opening. The cover has at least one support member extending radially inward from an inner surface of the cover , wherein the support member rotatably supports the element.
