Nigerian Military Insists Alleged Boko Haram Leader is Dead
In a statement, the Nigerian Defense Headquarters insisted the man in the video, who it says it actually a militant named Mohammed Bashir, was killed last month during a battle in the town of Kondunga.
"In the course of those encounters, one Mohammed Bashir, who has been acting or posing on videos as the deceased Abubakar Shekau... known as leader of the group, died," said Defence spokesman Major-General Chris Olukolade.
