Abstract:

A first video characteristic value is determined from a video/audio signal. The first video characteristic value is embedded in an audio portion of the video/audio signal and the video/audio signal is transmitted from a transmission source to a transmission destination. At the destination, the first video characteristic value is recovered and the received video/audio signal is used to determine a second video characteristic value. The recovered first video characteristic value is used to verify or check the second video characteristic value. By comparing the first and second video characteristic values, a determination is made about degradation of the received video/audio signal. In one example, a determination is made as to whether a lip-sync error has likely occurred. In another example, the audio-transmitted first video characteristic is used for copyright protection purposes.

Abstract:

A method and apparatus for providing equipment maintenance are disclosed. The method receives data that is captured by at least one sensor deployed at a location, wherein the data is associated with at least one parameter of an equipment, receives atmospheric data for the location, monitors the at least one parameter of the equipment and the atmospheric data for the location, determines for the at least one parameter, whether an update to a risk measure associated with the equipment is needed, when a deviation from a baseline is detected that is greater than a threshold for a maximum deviation from the baseline, performs the update to the risk measure associated with the equipment, when the update to the risk measure associated with the equipment is needed, and generates a ticket for a remedial action based on the risk measure, when the risk measure triggers the scheduling of the remedial action.

Abstract:

Lung segmentation and bone suppression techniques are helpful pre-processing steps prior to radiographic analyses of the human thorax, as may occur during cancer screenings and other medical examinations. Autonomous lung segmentation may remove spurious boundary pixels from a radiographic image, as well as identify and refine lung boundaries. Thereafter, autonomous bone suppression may identify clavicle, posterior rib, and anterior rib bones using various image processing techniques, including warping and edge detection. The identified clavicle, posterior rib, and anterior rib bones may then be suppressed from the radiographic image to yield a segmented, bone suppressed radiographic image.
