Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to surface-modified zirconia nanoparticles, methods for making and using the same, and high index of refraction films made therefrom. The provided zirconia nanoparticles are surface modified with ligands that include N-hydroxyurea functionalities. The provided ligands also can contain compatibilizing groups that allow the provided surface-modified zirconia nanoparticles to be incorporated into an organic matrix. High index of refraction films can be made using these organic matrices.

Abstract:
Compositions comprising surface-modified nanocalcite particles dispersed in a curable resin, and to coatings and fibrous composites incorporating such compositions are described. The surface-modifying agents include a binding group ionically associated with the calcite and a compatiblizing segment, compatible with the curable resin. The surface-modifying agent may also include a reactive group capable of reacting with the curable resin. Methods of preparing nanocalcite composites and coating a fibrous composites prepared from such nanocalcite composites are also described.

Abstract:
Surface-modified zirconia nanoparticles include zirconia nanoparticles and surface-modifying ligands attached to the zirconia nanoparticles. The ligand includes a hydroxamate functionality, and either a reactive group or an oligomeric group. Reactive groups include chain transfer groups or photoinitiator groups. Oligomeric groups include poly(meth)acrylate or poly(meth)acrylamide groups. Articles can be prepared that include the surface-modified zirconia nanoparticles in an organic matrix.

Abstract:
Charged polymeric webs, such as electret webs, include a thermoplastic resin and a charge-enhancing additive. The additives are substituted benzothiazole compounds or substituted benzoxazole compounds. The substituent groups may be hydroxyl, mercapto, or aromatic groups. The electret webs may be a non-woven fibrous web or a film. The electret webs are suitable for use as filter media.

Abstract:
Charged polymeric webs, such as electret webs, include a thermoplastic resin and a charge-enhancing additive. The additives are a mercapto-benzothiazole salts or mercapto-benzoxazole salts. The electret webs may be a non-woven fibrous web or a film. The electret webs are suitable for use as filter media.
Charged polymeric webs, such as electret webs, include a thermoplastic resin and a charge-enhancing additive. The charge-enhancing additive is a dual-function charge-enhancing additive that enhances the charge of the electret and also has anti-microbial properties. The additives are substituted-benzimidazole or substituted-benzothiazole compounds. The electret webs may be a non-woven fibrous web or a film. The electret webs are suitable for use as filter media.
Flame-Resistant Foam And Nonwoven Fiberous Web Thereof
A flame retardant foam. The flame retardant foam includes a from 25 to 75 wt % polyvinyl alcohol foam; and a from 25 to 95 wt % fire retardant coated on the polyvinyl alcohol foam, wherein the fire retardant comprises ammonium polyphosphate or sodium metasilicate; wherein the thickness of the foam is from 2 mm to 1 cm.

Abstract:
A nonwoven fibrous web includes a flame retardant nonwoven fabric coated with a fire retardant, wherein the fire retardant comprises ammonium polyphosphate or alkali metal silicate; and wherein the flame retardant nonwoven fabric has a first major surface and an opposed second major surface; a first nonwoven fabric covering at least a portion of the first major surface; and a second nonwoven fabric covering at least a portion of the second major surface. The first and second nonwoven fabrics each comprise oxidized polyacrylonitrile fibers and optional reinforcing fibers.
