Abstract:
A cross-connect switching system includes a plurality of three stage switching arrays and an expansion switching array, wherein a second stage of each of the three stage switching arrays includes an expansion section comprising switches which facilitate interconnection of each three stage array to the expansion switching array. In one embodiment, the expansion switching array includes a plurality of square arrays, each having Q inputs and Q outputs and wherein the second stages of the three stage arrays each include 1. . . M+1. . . M+p vertical stages which connect to the square āDā arrays of the central expansion switching array.

Abstract:
A communication system for interconnecting a plurality of communication devices includes a resource center and a softswitch. The resource center may include a computer such as an application server and a database of connection data. The softswitch may host a gateway that is remotely placed with respect to the resource center. The softswitch may be configured to connect a resource channel between one of the communication devices and the resource center and to connect an active channel between the same device and another one of the communication device. In addition, the softswitch may then disconnect the resource channel and reconnect the resource channel selectively upon actuation by a user. For example, a caller may actuation a resource-channel command on one of the communication. Upon receiving the command, the softswitch may cause the gateway to reconnect the resource channel. In some of the embodiments, the softswitch may store resource-channel data which may include data that enables the resource channel to be connected back to a desired level of the resource center. When the resource channel is connected, the resource center is configured to enable a user to initiate applications with voice commands.

Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for performing percutaneous transgastric or bi-transgastric minimally invasive surgical procedures targeting various organs and tissues of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract are provided. In one aspect of the invention, a percutaneous transgastric surgical port having at least one retraction tab disposed at a proximal end thereof is provided, wherein the at least one retraction tab is adapted for manipulating the percutaneous transgastric surgical port. In another aspect of the invention, a method of disposing one or more transgastric surgical ports in the gastric wall of a patient is provided, the one or more ports being utilized to perform a transgastric or bi-transgastric procedure in which the stomach itself may serve as a surgical port.

Abstract:
Software is employed to create an array of switch identifiers based on a known switching system architecture. A switch identifier array is preferably determined and stored in the system as part of the system manufacturing process prior to deployment of the system at an end user site. A relatively straight forward indexing operation may then be used to determine those sets of switches which are available to establish a desired interconnection, greatly simplifying selection of appropriate switches to create a desired path during real time operation of a deployed system.
Disclosed is an intraluminal gastrointestinal (GI) device that is placed at the time of surgery to protect a freshly constructed GI anastomosis, GI staple-line, or the like. For the esophagus and stomach, the device covers the esophagus, stomach, and anastomosis/staple-line. For the pancreas or biliary duct, the device covers the biliary duct, pancreatic duct, and small bowel. For the colon and rectum, the device is a self expanding protective barrier that covers the anal canal, the anus, and the colon or rectum, approximately 18 cm proximal to the anus. These devices provide a waterproof barrier between the gastrointestinal content and the mucosa of the GI tract and the newly constructed anastomosis. Additionally, the design of the device is made to prevent migration within the gastrointestinal tract and facilitate removal of the device.
