Abstract:
Carrier for the rack mounting of two or more data storage devices into a chassis. The carrier includes support members along the length of the carrier, to receive and retain the two or more data storage devices. The carrier further includes a single electrical communication connector to provide an electrical communication interface for all of the data storage devices in the carrier, to and from a mating connector on a board of the chassis. The carrier further includes an interposer to adapt electrical signals from the single electrical communication connector into a form that is usable by the data storage devices.

Abstract:
An enclosure services processor card is arranged to selectively split a fibre-channel arbitrated-loop (FC-AL) into two split loops. The card is adapted to plug into a backplane for a rack enclosure and includes a first switch operatively connected to a hub for the FC-AL. The hub comprises a plurality of port bypass circuits, each port bypass circuit being connected to a pair of tracks which in use connect to a respective one of each of the devices comprising the fibre channel arbitrated loop. The hub further comprises a pair of switches operatively controlled by the first switch, the pair of switches being disposed between respective port bypass circuits at which the loop is to be split. In a first state the pair of switches connect the devices in a single loop and in a second state the pair of switches divide the devices into two split loops.

Abstract:
An apparatus includes a guide system having first and second opposing guide walls with guide features extending from the first and second guide walls. The guide features support a data storage device when the data storage device is positioned between the first and the second opposing guide walls. The apparatus also includes a slidable member operably coupled to the first guide wall. The slidable member includes a top portion having retention features and a bottom portion having a lifting member. The lifting member enables lifting of the data storage device by the slidable member when the data storage device is within the guide system. The slidable member further includes a bent latch-release portion between the top portion and the bottom portion. The bent latch-release portion biases the data storage device towards the second guide wall.
A storage chassis may be adapted, or configured, to secure a plurality of carrierless devices (e.g., without the use of a carrier or drive tray) received thereby. The storage chassis may include a base, a first drive wall coupled to and extending from the base, and a second drive wall coupled to and extending from the base. The first drive wall may be spaced apart from the second drive wall. The base, the first drive wall, and the second drive wall may define a row of drive slots and each drive slot of the row of drive slots may be configured to receive a carrierless device. Further, the storage chassis may include a plate extending across the row of drive slots and may be configured to extend over the carrierless devices received by the row of drive slots.

Abstract:
The disclosed technology provides an enclosure system for computing equipment and a method for manufacturing an enclosure system, which includes a front enclosure base configured to secure a plurality of tray modules, each of the plurality of tray modules comprising a printed circuit board to connect a plurality of electronic components and being connected at a rear end to a connectivity midplane. The front enclosure base has a front end taller than the rear end such that the front end is configured to structurally support the plurality of tray modules and the rear end allows connecting rear faces of each of the plurality of tray modules to the connectivity midplane.
Carrier Used For Mounting Data Storage Drive Into Enclosure

Abstract:
A data storage carrier includes a middle member with at least one handle between ends of the middle member. Side members are coupled to the respective ends of the middle member via living hinges. The side members each include at least two protrusions configured to interface with side mounting holes of a data storage drive. The living hinges are bendable so that the protrusions interface with the side mounting holes of the drive and the middle member interfaces with a back side of the drive.
