Abstract:

A network interface device includes a host port, two network ports, and a switch that can direct communications between the host port, and the two network ports. A data processing system includes an information handling system coupled to a first network, and second and third information handling systems. The information handling systems are coupled in series. Communications received by the network that are addressed to the first information handling system are sent to the first information handling system, but not to the second or third information handling system. A method includes directing a communication from an information handling system to a first port when the communication has a target address that is less than the address of the information handling system or to a second port when the communication has a target address that is greater than the address of the information handling system.

A system that includes a first indicator, a second indicator, and a device associated with the first indicator and the second operator is provided. The device is configured to receive a packet. The device is also configured to detect a first protocol associated with the packet and cause the first indicator to be activated in response to detecting the first protocol. The device is further configured to detect a second protocol associated with the packet and cause the second indicator to be activated in response to detecting the second protocol.

Abstract:

A system and method is disclosed for providing a redundant network interface card in an information handling system. Each of the network interface cards of the computer system is coupled to an external switch. When a failure is identified in one of the network interface cards, a signal is sent to the external switch, which causes the bus from an alternate network interface card to be coupled to the computer network.

Abstract:

Computing nodes, such as plural information handling systems configured as a High Performance Computing Cluster (HPCC), are managed with plural master nodes configured to have active-active interaction. A resource manager of each of the plural master nodes is operable to simultaneously assign computing node resources to job requests. Reservations are made by a job scheduler in a table of a storage common to the active-active master nodes to avoid conflicts between master nodes and then reserved computing resources are assigned for management by the reserving master node resource manager. A failure manager monitors the master nodes to detect a failure, such as by a lack of communication from a master node for a predetermined time, and recovers a failed master node by assigning the jobs associated with the failed master node to an operating master node.
