Abstract:

A transducing head has a magnetoresistive sensor, a first bias element, and a second bias element. The magnetoresistive sensor is positioned between the first and second bias elements, and has a sensor width. The first bias element has a first length and the second bias element has a second length. The direction of the first and second lengths are substantially similar to the direction of the sensor width. The first and second lengths in the range of about one-tenth to about twenty times the sensor width.

Abstract:

A magnetoresistive sensor having an MR stack biased by high anisotropy hard bias elements thereby reducing distortion in sensor operation and improving head to head operational values. The high anisotropy hard bias elements are formed from a hard magnetic material deposited in a thin film having a substantially axial preferred direction of magnetic anisotropy prior to application of a setting field. The magnetic anisotropy in the hard magnetic material is formed by oblique deposition in a direction approximately normal to the preferred direction of anisotropy in the resulting hard bias element.

The present disclosure provides crumb of the type used in making milk and white chocolates with enhanced flavor and/or aroma. It has been found that adding alpha-dicarbonyls, e.g., 2- or 3-carbon alpha-dicarbonyls, can add noticeable caramel and/or toffee notes to the flavor and/or the aroma of the crumb without a concomitant increase in less desirable flavors and aromas, such as burnt or earthy notes.

Abstract:

Electrical current distribution in the soil surrounding a buried pipeline is detected by applying an AC electrical potential between the pipe and a buried electrode spaced from the pipe. The magnetic field at spaced localities along the pipe arising from currents transverse to the pipe is detected. Additionally, a potential containing a plurality of alternating frequencies is similarly applied to the pipe and the magnetic field induced by the resulting electrical current both along the pipe and transversely of the pipe is detected. The magnetic field is detected by correlation discrimination at spaced locations along the pipe and across the spectrum of the impressed frequencies. The detected data is used to determine the capacitance and resistance of the soil/pipe interface at localities along the pipe and to generate impedance plots which indicate characteristics of that interface.

Abstract:

The invention relates to a bakery fat system that is low in trans- and saturated fatty acids. A process for making the system of the present invention is also disclosed and a use in bakery applications, in particular in pastry applications, is also disclosed. In a first aspect, the present invention relates to a bakery fat system comprising from 30 weight/weight % (w/w %) to 75 w/w %, of a lipid and from 25 w/w % t 70 w/w % of a porous edible particle, characterized in that said bakery fat system is a structured fat system wherein the lipid is present as a continuous phase. In a second aspect, the present invention relates to a process for making the bakery fat system, a bakery product comprising the bakery fat system and further bakery ingredients, and the use of the bakery fat system in bakery applications, in particular in pastry applications, are also disclosed.
