Abstract:

A fuel tank filler assembly includes a filler neck configured to receive a fuel supply nozzle. The filler neck includes a one-piece seamless funnel member having a tubular body configured to swirl supplied fuel and reduce vapor escape. The tubular body includes integrally formed threads for receiving a gas cap. The funnel member defines in off-set axial relation a relatively large inlet opening adapted for attachment to a receptor for the nozzle and a relatively small necked down outlet opening adapted for attachment to the inlet of a filler tube. The filler tube is in communication with the fuel tank. A method for manufacturing the fuel tank filler neck is also disclosed.

Abstract:

A method of forming a gas tank filler neck includes configuring at least a portion of a seamless tubular member to induce a swirl to passing fuel for venting vapors from the gas tank during fuel filling. The configuration may include deep drawing a seamless funnel member, forming a relatively large inlet at one end thereof, and forming a relatively small outlet at the opposite end thereof, the inlet having an axis offset from the axis of the outlet. A filler neck includes a seamless funnel member defining a relatively large inlet opening and relatively small outlet opening, the position of the inlet opening relative the outlet opening inducing a swirl to the fuel being supplied.

Abstract:

A head up display arrangement for a motor vehicle includes a head up display module having a picture generation unit emitting a light field. A polarizing device is rotatable between at least a first rotational position and a second rotational position. The polarizing device receives the light field from the picture generation unit and emits the light field regardless of whether the polarizing device is in the first rotational position or the second rotational position. More of the light is emitted by the polarizer in a P-polarization state in the second rotational position than in the first rotational position. A windshield reflects the light field from the polarizing device such that the reflected light field is visible to a human driver of the motor vehicle as a virtual image.

Abstract:

A head up display arrangement for a motor vehicle includes a picture generation unit producing a light field. A digital micromirror device is positioned to reflect the light field. The digital micromirror device includes an array of mirrors each having an individually adjustable orientation. An electronic processor is communicatively coupled to the digital micromirror device and individually adjusts the orientation of each mirror such that the light field reflected by the digital micromirror device is visible to the driver as a virtual image.

Abstract:

A head up display arrangement is for a motor vehicle having a human driver. A camera is positioned and configured to capture images of an object being towed by the vehicle. A head up display module produces virtual images that are visible to the driver. The head up display module is operable in a conventional mode in which the virtual images are independent of the images captured by the camera, and in a tow mode in which the virtual images are dependent upon the images captured by the camera.
