Apparatus for neutralizing random electrostatic charges on a moving web that simultaneously leaves the web with either a uniform, positive, negative, or neutral charge. The apparatus includes one or more ion generators having at least one of said generators powered from both AC and DC power sources. An AC powered ion generator emits positive and negative ions that migrate to the moving web and neutralize oppositely charged areas located thereon. At the same time that the ion generator is being activated by AC power, DC power is superimposed on the same ion generator to control ion concentration and therefore the residual web charge.
Dye Free, Spectrally Sensitive Silver Halide Layers In Diffusion Transfer Films
The present invention relates to photography, particularly, to photographic products specifically adapted for employment in specified photographic diffusion transfer color processes and, more particularly, to photographic products which comprise a fixed or permanent composite photosensitive structure including, as essential layers, in sequence, a first dimensionally stable layer transparent to actinic radiation; a polymeric layer dyeable by a diffusion transfer process dye image-forming material; a processing composition permeable opaque layer; a first photosensitive silver halide layer having associated therewith a diffusion transfer process dye image-forming material; a second photosensitive silver halide layer; a second dimensionally stable layer transparent to actinic radiation; and means for providing a diffusion transfer process processing composition preferably retaining opacifying agent intermediate the dye image-forming material impermeable polymeric layer and the next adjacent second transparent dimensionally stable layer; and to specified photographic diffusion transfer color processes employing such products.
A process for coating a synthetic resin optical substrate by subjecting the surface of the substrate to low temperature ion bombardment prior to coating in order to open the chemical bonds on the surface of the substrate and coating the substrate surface before the bonds return to their normal or closed condition. The substrate may also be subjected to low temperature ion bombardment during and after coating to further improve coating adherence and abrasion resistance characteristics.
Glucoside Humectant As Silver Halide Emulsion Stabilizer
The present invention is directed to novel photographic products for use in color diffusion transfer systems wherein at least one of the layers of the film unit contains an amount of a glucoside humectant effective to stabilize the silver halide emulsion(s) thereof against fog during storage.
