Abstract:

A resilient floor includes a plurality of parallel spaced rows of sleeper assemblies, or substructure members, supported by pads over a base, with a wear layer of floorboards secured to the rows of substructure members. The substructure members include an elongated lower panel with a pair of spaced rows of pads secured along the bottom surface of the panel, and corresponding rows of nailing strips secured to the top surface of the panel, to which the wear layer is secured. The panel may also include an middle row of designations, such as holes, for locating anchors to anchor the panel to the base, if it is desired to anchor the floor. Compared to other resilient floors the substructure members of this invention simplify and reduce installation and handling time, resulting in reduced labor costs. The structure itself also provides high strength and durability, but with reduced quantity and cost of material.

Abstract:

A method for transforming an image, containing an arbitrary number of colors from a full color process printing mode to a spot color printing mode while preserving the users intended color usage as much as possible. The method is contained in a utility and referred to as âSpot Color Transformationâ (SCT). The SCT utility provides a user the ability to transform an image generated by a computer program module, such as a desktop publishing computer program module, from a full color mode into a spot color mode. The SCT utility operates on an object-by-object basis to map objects within an image to one of several partitions: a black partition and a color partition. The SCT utility maps each object that has an associated color that is substantially black or a tint of black to the black partition. Next, the SCT utility converts the colors of unmapped objects to a tint of the spot color based on the luminance value of the particular color relative to the lowest luminance value found in the image. Finally each converted object and its corresponding tint of the spot color are mapped to the spot color partition.

Abstract:

A wood floor system comprises a plurality of parallel rows of floorboards laid end-to-end, and each of the floorboards includes a compression nub extending along a side surface thereof, adjacent the top surface. These compression nubs affirmatively engage an opposing side surface of an adjacent floorboard row, thereby sealing, or isolating, the top surface of the floor from the side surfaces of the floorboard rows. This uniformly distributes expansion and contraction forces throughout the floor, due to uniform spacing between the floorboard rows. The isolation of the upper floorboard surface from the side surface also prevents undesired downward migration or flow of liquid finishing solution, which can have serious adverse affects for a wood floor. The invention reduces the total volume of finishing solution necessary for finishing the floor, and it also reduces “overwood” during floor installation.

Techniques are described to establish one-way public relationships. In an implementation, a control is exposed that is operable to become a fan of an object within a social networking page. Responsive to operation of the control, data may be stored to establish a one-way public relationship between a user and the selected object. By establishing a one-way public relationship rather than a mutual friend relationship, the object and/or a corresponding owner of the object is not included in the user's social network and is not provided access to the user's profile, status, or other personal information. The one-way public relationship may be employed by a service provider to serve content related to the object to the user. The one-way public relationships may also be employed by the service provider to push status updates regarding the object to “fans” of the object.

Abstract:

A method is disclosed for address book owners to link to a publisher's contact information profile, and establish an automatic updates relationship with the publisher. Upon establishing this relationship, when a publisher modifies his or her profile to reflect updated contact information, the publisher's updated profile information may then automatically be published to an address book owner's address book so that the address book owner's contact for the publisher is automatically updated to reflect the new information in the profile. Thus, the publisher's contact in the address book owner's address book may be automatically updated as a result of a publisher updating his or her profile, and without any action on the part of the address book owner.
