Abstract:

A method and computer network for containing the spread of damage from a compromised element. A sensor is arranged to detect suspicious behavior of other identifiable network elements. When such suspicious behavior is detected, the identity of such network element is addressed and input to a directory. Such directory is addressable by various network elements, including network servers and routers or gateways that define choke points of the network, over either a network infrastructure (wide area network) or network interconnections (local area network). Such network architecture permits the various choke point network elements (controllers) to refer to the status of network elements requesting services, such as network configuration, that could result in the spread of damage, when deciding to provide or deny such services.

Abstract:

A driver for positioning the postage amount handles of a postage meter, the driver including motors which, in response to control signals from a postage computer, axially displace shafts along paths generally parallel to the paths of the postage meter handles. The shafts support actuator fingers which couple the shaft movement to the respective handles. An optical interruptor for each shaft senses various shaft positions and provides signals to the postage computer which are used in part to develop the control signals.

Abstract:

Various embodiments are directed to systems and methods for automatically distributing loads among computing devices involved in message delivery within a group-based communication platform. Embodiments utilize a status checker to monitor the relative health and/or utilization of various channel servers each servicing a group-based communication channel for communication among a particular group of client devices. Upon detecting that one or more of the channel servers exhibit failing health characteristics, the status checker may automatically reallocate the messaging load performed by the failing channel server to other servers, thereby redefining the group-based communication channel associated with a particular group to encompass the newly assigned channel server and minimizing the impact of the failed channel server on message distribution within the group-based communication channel.
