Abstract:

An apparatus for testing an audio component, such as a compact disc player, automatically runs tests iteratively and suppresses spurious errors generated between test cycles. The player is configured to play a prerecorded test disc encoding a test tone for a certain period of time. The test tone is monitored and changes in frequency or amplitude of the generated signal cause a latch to be set and an interrupt signal to be sent to a controller. The controller increments an error count in response to the interrupt and resets the latch. At the end of the test cycle an end-of-test tone is mixed with the test tone. When the end-of-test tone is detected the latch is disabled for a period of time to prevent signals generated as the player resets to result in spurious errors.

Abstract:

Circuit for receiving service request signals from peripheral devices in a computer system and providing an address to the computer to effect a program transfer to an appropriate service subroutine. An interrupt request signal is generated to cause the computer to jump to a subroutine. A DMA (direct memory access) request is used to store the address at which the proper subroutine is stored. The proper subroutine depends on the highest priority device supplying a service request signal and on the status of that device. Provision is also made for storing a double-length address.

Abstract:

A liquid crystal device (LCD) for displaying a dot matrix is formed of a pair of LCD's in back-to-back relation. Conductive bar pattern coatings are provided on each of the LCD's. Each LCD pattern is orthogonally oriented to the pattern of the other LCD to define thereby a dot matrix in a row and column array. The electrically conducting patterns are energized with control signals to activate the liquid crystal compositions in the respective LCD's to transmit light through two spatially superposed vertical dots to provide a display of dots in accordance with the selected energization signals.

When the on-off switch (28) is manually turned on, the airflow (39) will enter the cup member (34) through the open top end (36), pick up a scented vapor (48) from the holding assembly (44) and be forced out of the airflow exiting facility (37).

Abstract:

In a computer system, a struture uses a method for rapidly accessing and executing a sub-routine selected in response to a service request from an external source. The system provides a storage unit containing the addresses of the sub-routines called for by the service requests, with the addresses of the sub-routine being identified by the received service requests. Also provided is a register containing the address of a given instruction and control logic responsive to a received service request to enable the register to become the main program counter and thereby point to the given instruction. The control logic responds to the given instruction to alter the contents of the register to a predetermined value. A decoder responds to the altered contents of the register to concurrently disable the main memory of the system and to enable the storage unit which then supplies the address of the selected sub-routine to the control logic while the main memory is disabled. The control logic then loads the requested sub-routine address into the register which acts as the program counter for the execution of the selected sub-routine.

Circuit for controlling the color of dot elements in a raster scan display. A data memory stores the state (on or off) of dot elements which are mapped onto the raster scan display. At least one smaller auxiliary memory is provided to store one set of color information specifying the color of a plurality of contiguous dot elements when the dot states have one value and another set of color information specifying the color of the plurality of contiguous dot elements when the dot states have the other value. There is also a selectable background color circuit for controlling the color outside an active display area.
